Overview
AIG is seeking an Underwriter to contribute to their industry-leading Professional and Cyber Liability CAP Team. AIG leads in this area through innovation, technology, and data analytics, and seeks forward-thinking underwriters to navigate a changing marketplace. Focus areas include E&O, Technology, Media, and Cyber Liability.
Role Summary
In this role, you will underwriting and servicing an existing renewal book and also soliciting new business opportunities. The position involves frequent interaction with top nationwide brokers and insureds, including Fortune 500 companies and major local/regional players requiring tailored solutions. You will operate in a dynamic environment with exposure to influential professionals in insurance, technology, and legal fields.
How you will create an impact
- Evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions to be underwritten.
- Identify risk exposures, hazards, claims experience, and appropriate controls.
- Adhere to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and appropriately price risks.
- Ensure underwriting files, service standards, and compliance guidelines are followed on assigned accounts.
- Offer coverage, terms, and conditions that generate profit while meeting customer needs.
- Capture market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts.
- Demonstrate technical expertise with products in the Financial Lines portfolio.
- Apply strong business acumen, financial and analytical skills, and critical thinking for confident decision making.
- Demonstrate success in negotiation and building collaborative relationships.
- Multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively in a high-volume environment.
- Balance changing priorities and underwriter needs within time constraints; seek senior input for risks beyond authority or requiring special handling.
- Sell and negotiate to achieve profitability for the Company.
- Present risk appetite and the Financial Lines value proposition to brokers and clients.
- Contribute to producer strategies and maintain a submission pipeline to meet production and mix objectives.
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal and external).
What you will need to succeed
- 1+ years of underwriting or relevant professional experience.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, rapidly changing environment, adapting to evolving requirements and collaborating with colleagues to deliver solutions, especially on technical aspects.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to self-direct, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
- Initiative on projects, and the ability to seek alternative solutions when necessary.
