Role Summary
Make your mark in Underwriting, Specialty Energy Middle Market. AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. Responsibilities
- Underwrite and service an existing renewal book with support to team members who solicit new business opportunities.
- Interact with top nationwide, regional, local, and wholesale brokers and insureds on a regular basis.
- Gain experience across a wide variety of coverages, client industries, and specializations.
- Underwrite NA Casualty products under general supervision, including issuing quotes and policies while ensuring standards and compliance guidelines are met.
- Analyze information, connect with clients and brokers, and identify market opportunities.
- Underwrite a specific line of business within NA Casualty (e.g., Environmental, Excess or Primary Casualty, NA Auto, Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, DBA, Foreign Casualty).
- Evaluate, prioritize, and select submissions for underwriting.
- Identify risk exposures, hazards, claims experience, and appropriate controls.
- Analyze claims and quantify losses; adhere to guidelines and underwriting discipline to minimize exposure and price risks appropriately.
- Ensure underwriting files and services standards and compliance guidelines are followed on assigned accounts.
- Offer coverage, terms, and conditions that generate profit while meeting customer needs.
- Capture market intelligence and broker feedback on accounts.
- Develop technical expertise with products in the Financial Lines portfolio.
- Provide superior customer service to brokers and clients (internal and external).
What you'll need to succeed
- 1+ years of relevant professional experience; insurance experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university (preferred).
- Working knowledge of financial statements and analysis.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and analytical skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work in a dynamic, changing environment and collaborate with a wide range of colleagues to deliver solutions quickly.
- Ability to facilitate cross-functional collaboration, especially on technical aspects.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to self-direct, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
- Proactive approach to projects and problem-solving; highly motivated and results-oriented.
- Exposure to NA Casualty products (e.g., Environmental, Excess or Primary Casualty, NA Auto, Workers’ Compensation, General Liability, DBA, Foreign Casualty) is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
For positions based in New York, the base salary range is $68,000–$91,000 and the position is eligible for a bonus in accordance with the applicable incentive plan. Your actual compensation will depend on your skills, experience, and qualifications.
