Responsibilities
- Contribute to the success of the Scotiabank US Research Department by delivering on team goals and business objectives in compliance with regulations and internal policies.
- Champion a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships and knowledge.
- Assist the Senior Analyst with day-to-day responsibilities, including developing and updating forecasting models, maintaining current information for identified companies, and monitoring macroeconomic developments.
- Review daily news for information impacting macro, industry, and company drivers.
- Communicate with company management to stay informed about events affecting performance.
- Draft research reports with company-specific recommendations and commentary on economic developments.
- Collaborate with Senior Analyst on launching new company coverage and developing new industry and thematic research reports.
- Partner with sector colleagues and analysts in the US, Canada, and Latin America on industry and company reports, client events, and corporate events.
- Assist sales and trading with investor communications and support company marketing by coordinating meetings with industry and corporate contacts.
- Understand the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities and decisions.
- Maintain efficient operations aligned with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and Global Sales Principles; ensure controls for operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions, and conduct risk.
- Foster a high-performance, inclusive work environment.
Qualifications
- University degree required; preference for business, economics, engineering, or computer science/programming.
- FINRA SIE, S-63, S-86, and S-87 designations required.
- Strong accounting, financial modeling, and analytical skills.
- Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Experience in a financial, engineering, or analytical role in a computer science/programming field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Capital Markets knowledge/experience is an asset.
- Experience with Bloomberg, FactSet, and AI tools is an asset.
- Designations such as P.Eng, MBA, CPA/CA, or enrollment/completion of CFA program are assets.
- Good business judgment and decision-making skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and manage multiple projects concurrently.
- Energetic, self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work collaboratively in a team.
