Aviva Investors publishes three early-careers pathways, each set up for a different stage:

• Graduate Programme — a two-year structured programme; entrants join as permanent Aviva Investors colleagues from day one, rotating across investment and business teams. All degree subjects are welcomed.
• Traineeship Programme — a 12-month programme for school leavers, delivered in partnership with Investment 20/20, the industry's school-leaver training body.
• Internships — a six-week summer programme for penultimate-year university students, recruited through the firm's upReach outreach partnership.

All three feed into three named business tracks: Distribution (institutional client work with pension funds, insurers and intermediaries), Private Markets (real estate, infrastructure and private debt) and Public Markets (equities, credit and multi-asset). The two partnership-routed programmes (Traineeship via Investment 20/20, Internship via upReach) are the operational consequence: a candidate cannot apply to those two routes through Aviva Investors' own Workday — they need to be in the partner's pipeline, which is a separate application before the programme application even opens.

Aviva Investors publishes per-programme application windows on its graduates and trainees page:

• Graduate Programme: applications open in October, roles start the following September.
• Traineeship Programme: applications open in March, roles start in September of the same year.
• Internships (via upReach): applications open in April for summer placements in that year.

The practical shape is three non-overlapping windows: October for the longest pipeline (Graduate, with a roughly 11-month gap before start), March for the school-leaver Traineeship, and April for the summer Internship. A candidate weighing all three is not running parallel applications — they are running three sequential ones across the academic year, each through a slightly different route (direct, Investment 20/20, upReach).

Two things stand out, both directly visible on the graduates and trainees page. First, Aviva Investors is the asset-management arm of Aviva plc, one of the UK's largest insurance and savings groups, which gives the early-careers cohort a development frame ("One Aviva development — shared learning, networks and opportunities across the wider Aviva community") that crosses asset management, life insurance and general insurance — broader exposure than a standalone asset manager offers. Second, the firm runs its two non-graduate routes through formal partner organisations: Investment 20/20 for the school-leaver Traineeship, and upReach for the summer Internship. The upReach partnership in particular is an explicit social-mobility filter, which narrows but also defines the cohort the internship is meant to reach. For a candidate from a non-traditional or first-in-family background, the upReach route is the relevant one to look at, not the general Workday postings; for a candidate without that profile, the Graduate Programme is the primary direct route in.
