Overview
The Private Equity business within Goldman Sachs Alternatives makes direct equity investments across the Americas and Europe in a broad range of industries, aiming to maximize investment value through operational and financial value creation. The goal is long-term capital appreciation by committing equity to high-quality companies with strong management teams. Analysts in Private Equity are part of a team of investment professionals responsible for the acquisition and management of investments, involved in a wide range of high-profile transactions, including management buyouts, take-privates, add-on acquisitions, build-ups, restructurings, recapitalizations, and dispositions.
Private Equity Investing
The Private Equity Investing business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management has been operating for over 30 years, investing across a broad range of industries, geographies, and transaction types with approximately 100 dedicated investment professionals globally. The latest flagship fund in our private equity platform is West Street Capital Partners VIII, a $9.7 billion vehicle. We pursue a strategy focused on long-term capital appreciation by committing to high-quality companies with strong management teams and actively supporting their development and value creation.
The Role & Responsibilities
Analysts in Private Equity Investing are integrally involved with all aspects of the investment cycle, including sourcing, identifying and evaluating attractive investment themes and opportunities; building relationships with management teams, senior advisors, and external industry experts; performing due diligence; financing, structuring and closing transactions; and developing, monitoring and implementing value creation strategies at existing portfolio companies.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for highly motivated, well-rounded team players who are passionate about investing and want to build a long-term career at Goldman Sachs with the following skills:
- 1 to 2 years of experience with leading investment banks, consulting firms, corporate teams, private equity firms, or other alternative asset managers
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification with a track record of excellence in career and academics
- Strong quantitative, financial modelling, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- High level of integrity, strong work ethic, and commitment to the job with genuine enthusiasm for private equity; ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines; resourceful problem-solving
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; European language skills are a plus
- Demonstrates versatility in adapting to different industries and geographies
- Ability to self-direct, analyze, evaluate, and form independent judgments
- Ability to interact and build relationships with a wide variety of people
