Department
Corporate Banking Department (London) is a front office function responsible for business development of customers located in the United Kingdom and other demarcated countries in EMEA, whose ultimate parents are Japanese corporates. It is in charge of overall customer relationships and covers the following tasks:
- Achieving the department's profit target by offering MUFG products and services to clients, in collaboration with Primary Offices; discovering seeds of future profits and monetizing them with Product Offices’ support; maximizing profit through close communications with MUFG affiliates within/outside the region.
- Strategy planning: building short-term and mid-to-long-term account strategies and executing them; supporting the Head of the Japanese Corporate Banking Division for EMEA on developing the division’s strategy.
- Customer centric: improving the department’s customer base through necessary replacements; contributing MUFG-wide business expansion for our customers; offering and introducing new products and services for future profits.
- Credit control: creating high-level credit/borrower rating applications through prudent and accurate credit analysis; analyzing the department’s credit portfolio and reporting to management.
- Compliance and risk ownership: leading the department in building an adequate risk ownership framework; following compliance-related rules.
- MUFG contribution: increasing profit at other MUFG offices; supporting and enhancing better management/controls at other MUFG offices within the region.

Main Purpose of the Role
- To ensure the administration of all internal requirements that assist business promotion activities and support the management to deliver efficient Japanese corporate banking business operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day administrative work associated with Japanese Corporate Banking Division (JCBD)’s internal control requirements, such as pending controls, updating credit condition information in CIMS, SOX testing, and self-inspection, to ensure no breaches of internal rules or procedures.
- Actively contribute to ad-hoc projects within JCBD to improve processes and operational efficiency for London and the region.
- Create, update, and submit internal reports to relevant divisions at Headquarters in a timely manner, liaising with stakeholders to satisfy reporting requirements.
- Oversee and control day-to-day administrative work in the department to support the Head of Division and Department Head for effective and efficient operations.
- Develop and maintain effective relationships across the division and with other departments/branches in EMEA, including Head Office, to enable greater coordination and collaboration.
Work Experience
Preferred:
- Basic knowledge of a wide range of banking products
- Experience in a financial institution with understanding and experience in Japanese corporate banking business
- Previous experience in business management and/or administration

Performance and Duties
The role holder will be assessed in accordance with their employing entity’s performance framework and process, with relevant input from the dual hatting entity as applicable.
As duties and responsibilities change, the job description will be reviewed and amended in consultation with the role holder. The role holder will carry out other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the role as requested by their line manager or Department Head.
