Job Description
The Banking Associate is a banking professional who plays a key role in delivering TD’s Brand promise at a store location. This role is accountable for accurately completing everyday banking transactions and providing advice and educational support on services, products, and tools to help customers achieve their financial goals.
Depth & Scope
- Perform a wide range of tasks across multiple areas within a store location, including processing customer transactions, opening new accounts, and educating customers on banking products and services.
- Provide end-to-end advisory support: building trust with educational content and tools, offering consultative support, and providing proactive insights and recommendations.
- Engage with customers using TD’s systems and tools to acquire and deepen relationships by offering guidance to attract and retain customers.
- Identify customer financial needs to promote and educate on products/services or refer to the appropriate team member while ensuring a positive experience.
- Complete everyday banking transactions on the teller line or platform while uncovering needs and educating on products and services.
- Service customers on both teller and platform as needed, including personal deposit accounts, debit/credit card issues, Regulation E, and digital banking.
- Lead with customer outreach and lead management, including self-generated leads, partner referrals, outbound calls, and appointment setting.
Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED
- 1 year of experience working with customers in any capacity (volunteering, education, military experience, etc. are acceptable)
- Demonstrated customer service skills preferred
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled
- Teller experience preferred
- Required to complete Teller training and part 1 of platform training upon hire
- Strong organizational skills to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills—concise, clear, and consistent
- Strong problem-solving ability and ability to prioritize work
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines
- Sound judgment in decision making
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Notary license preferred
Customer Accountabilities
- Provide legendary customer service while transacting, promoting, educating, and referring TD products to customers
- Establish and nurture customer relationships through product knowledge and active listening to identify needs and offer solutions
- Manage wait times and schedule appointments with bankers as needed
- Engage in lobby leadership and act as the first point of contact for inquiries, guiding customers to appointments with experts as needed
- Support the bank’s customer service strategy and ensure decisions align with TD’s values
- Drive referrals to store colleagues and partners to address broader financial needs
- Ensure tasks comply with established policies and procedures
- Complete required job-specific compliance training and adhere to compliance/risk programs
- Maintain compliance with internal/external audits and regulatory requests; keep action plans and records up to date
- Adhere to TD Code of Conduct
Shareholder Accountabilities
- Comply with regulatory guidelines (e.g., Bank Secrecy Act, Patriot Act) in operational activities
- Process cash/deposits/withdrawals and other account servicing requests accurately
- Open/close accounts, service accounts, issue cards, and update customer information as required
- Ensure regulatory and policy compliance with required controls and documentation
- Apply authentication principles and due diligence to new accounts and transactions
- Maintain cash drawers within limits and secure balances; follow open/close procedures
- Follow all procedures for Customer Authentication; act as Dual Control agent when required

Physical Requirements
Work involves typical office activities with the following considerations:
- Domestic travel – occasional; international travel – never
- Frequent or continuous tasks such as sedentary work, multi-tasking, operating standard office equipment, concentration, and reading/writing
- Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; occasional lifting under 25 lbs and up to 25 lbs
- Occasional climbing, bending, kneeling, squatting, reaching, pushing, pulling, and twisting
