Junior Crypto Electronic Trading Support Engineer

Hudson River Trading (HRT) is looking for a Junior Crypto Electronic Trading Support Engineer to join our Trade Operations (TradeOps) team in our London office. This team manages HRT’s live trading environment, including configuring, monitoring, and optimizing crypto trading and handling related risk, regulatory, and development tasks. The TradeOps team focuses on automating common tasks and preparing for the unexpected: debugging to get a process running before the market open, making on-the-spot decisions balancing compliance, risk, and PnL during trading hours, and coordinating the technical rollout of new trading strategies.

We’re looking for someone who loves technology, is passionate about crypto, and wants to work on a broad range of projects using the best tools available. Excellent cross-functional communication skills and a can-do attitude are essential.

In a high-performance environment, immediate awareness of and reaction to systems and trading issues is essential. As an Electronic Trading Support Engineer, you’ll be responsible for onboarding new crypto markets, managing new initiatives, and ensuring a smooth trading day. You will be the first line of defense when issues arise and the subject matter expert on recent changes to the production trading platform. The TradeOps scope covers systems infrastructure, compliance, risk management, overnight clearing, and performance improvement.

Please note: this role requires working 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM GMT / 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM BST hours, with weekends/holidays alternating among the team.

Responsibilities

• Support live crypto trading and other asset classes as needed
• Handle order flow from HRT’s trading desks
• Respond to external market alerts and outages
• Interface with exchanges and other external parties to support trading

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of experience in a similar role or internship
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline
• Working knowledge of UNIX systems, Bash, and Python
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to interface with developers and traders
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong interest in crypto – follows the digital assets space in spare time
• Understanding of various financial products, including equities, crypto products, and derivatives is a plus
• Overall interest in market structure and the trading industry
• Series 7 or 57 certification or willingness to obtain certification
• Ability to work during 3:00 PM – 11:00 PM GMT / 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM BST hours, with weekends/holidays alternating among the team
