Role details
About the Position
We are seeking a skilled analyst to join an expanding subgroup within our Finance team to help manage and improve daily activities and processes. No prior finance background or specific experience is required; we value curiosity, enthusiasm, and the ability to think and learn.
Members of our financial resource management group, like the rest of Jane Street, are critical thinkers and problem solvers. We are responsible for managing the capital base the firm uses for trading. Much of our work involves constrained optimization—working with and providing costs to trading desks, managing positions across providers subject to numerous limits and constraints, and strategizing to support future growth. We also handle the modeling, monitoring, and operational processes that enable these activities.
In this role, you will collaborate closely with colleagues within the group, other teams across the firm, and external counterparties. Your responsibilities will include:
- Monitoring the firm’s capital usage systems, including triaging, escalating, and addressing alerts
- Translating qualitative recommendations into system configuration and parameter changes
- Reconciling internal and external margin models, including liaising with external counterparts
- Executing various funding and financing trades, such as FX balance management, equity position financing, and funding treasuries
- Operating firm-wide position management systems that shape our book based on costs and constraints
- Maintaining and improving desk infrastructure by automating workflows, building monitoring and visualization tools, and supporting ad-hoc team requests
This position offers ample room for growth. As you gain experience in daily operations, you will independently make high-value, time-sensitive decisions, take on increased responsibility for key processes, and design and implement long-term improvements. You will also contribute to preparing for and responding to exceptional events and market volatility.
About You
- At least 1 year of professional experience in a quantitative or technical role
- Interest in working on day-to-day processes and real-time monitoring
- Proactive, organized, thorough, with keen attention to detail
- Ability to learn quickly, follow policies and procedures, and exercise good judgment under pressure
- Familiarity with Excel and basic programming techniques (any language), with willingness to learn Python and SQL
- Numerate and comfortable using quantitative approaches to decision-making
- Curious and eager to ask questions, admit mistakes, and continuously improve
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, comfortable building relationships with external partners
You will be required to take the registration exams needed to obtain a series license upon starting.
