About the Role

At ShopBack, AI is how we build; it is not a side tool. You will ship products with AI agents as teammates, and you will build the systems that make those agents fast, secure, and reliable.

Both fresh graduates and experienced engineers are welcome to apply.

What You'll Own

• Own features end-to-end: take a feature from idea to design, build, test, ship, and operate, using AI to move faster at every step, and remain accountable for the result.
• Turn repeated work into reusable AI assets by building skills, tools, MCP servers, and agent workflows for the whole team, rather than writing one-off prompts.
• Make AI output measurable by building evaluations, tests, and guardrails to ensure trust in agent output; "It looks right" is not enough—build loops, not tasks.
• Connect agents to CI, code review, observability, and incident data so the system improves with every run.
• Design clean, scalable services, building the APIs and backend services behind our apps, payments, and partner integrations.
• Identify opportunities where AI changes the product itself, collaborating with product, data, and design on ideas beyond simply improving how we build.
• Clearly explain trade-offs; analyze requirements, propose solutions, and determine when AI is the wrong tool for a given problem.
• Raise the bar by leading projects, mentoring engineers, and sharing best practices to make the entire organization more AI-native.

Essentials to Succeed

• Strong fundamentals: Proficiency in system design, data structures, testing, and debugging. AI enhances good engineers; it does not replace fundamentals.
• Proof of AI application: Showcase projects where you have actively applied AI, not just used it. Send us your code repository.
• Healthy scepticism: Treat AI output as code from a new teammate—review, verify, and test it rigorously.
• Production experience: Proven experience building and running services in a cloud environment. Experience with consumer-facing products is a plus.
• Learning velocity: Ability to quickly adopt new tools and discard old habits when better alternatives emerge. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply with side projects, hackathon participation, internships, or open-source contributions.

Bonus Points

• Experience building agent infrastructure at scale: such as sandboxes, runtimes, orchestration, or permission models.
• Designing LLM-as-judge or robust evaluation pipelines that the team relies upon.
• Shipping AI features to real users while managing costs, latency, and failure modes.
• Integrating AI into the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC), such as automated MR review, test generation, or incident triage.
