UI Engineer – CES Client Platforms

Role Overview

Citadel Securities is building the next generation of client platforms that power institutional access to global markets. We are seeking a versatile UI Engineer to join our CES Client Platforms team in New York.

Our team develops the applications and user experiences that enable clients to interact with Citadel Securities' electronic trading and execution services. We build modern, high-performance platforms that deliver real-time market intelligence, execution capabilities, analytics, and workflow tools across asset classes.

While your primary focus will be crafting exceptional UI/UX, we are looking for a well-rounded engineer with a strong desire to understand systems front-to-back. You will partner closely with product managers, client-facing business teams, quantitative researchers, and backend engineering teams to design and deliver scalable, intuitive applications that are relied upon by institutional clients and internal stakeholders around the world.

Responsibilities

• Design and build sophisticated, workflow-driven user interfaces primarily using TypeScript and React.
• Dive into backend services (C++, Python) and data pipelines as needed to troubleshoot, optimize, or build out end-to-end features.
• Integrate UI components with distributed backend systems and real-time data services, understanding the full lifecycle of the data.
• Translate complex trading, market data, and client workflows into intuitive, high-performance user experiences.
• Drive front-end engineering best practices, performance optimization, maintainability, and architectural consistency.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering, product, and business teams to deliver client-facing capabilities and enhancements.
• Contribute to the evolution of reusable UI frameworks, component libraries, and developer tooling.

Qualifications

• Exceptional analytical skills and a natural curiosity to understand how complex, distributed systems work from the backend to the user interface.
• Proficiency in TypeScript and React, with a solid foundation in modern web development.
• A well-rounded, adaptable engineering mindset with the flexibility and willingness to contribute across the full stack when necessary.
• Experience building front-end applications, with a strong appetite for scaling your skills and tackling large-scale, production-grade challenges.
• Understanding of UI architecture, state management, and rendering performance.
• Product-oriented mindset with the ability to work closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver scalable solutions.
• Strong UX instincts with experience designing applications that simplify complex workflows and present real-time information clearly and efficiently.
• Ability to operate effectively in environments without dedicated UI design support.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Experience in financial services, electronic trading, market data, or other high-performance software environments is a plus, but not required.

Compensation and Benefits

In accordance with applicable law, the base salary range for this role is $175,000 to $350,000.

In addition, the employee who fills this role will be eligible to participate in a discretionary incentive compensation program, as well as a wide array of benefit programs, such as medical and life insurance, retirement and tax-free savings plans, and access to other healthcare programs.
