Analyst – London

We are looking for a proactive, enthusiastic, and motivated individual, with at least 1.5 years of M&A experience, to join the AMCI team in London.

The AMCI team in London works across a highly international client and project base, advising on transactions throughout continental Europe, China, MEA, and North America. The team benefits from strong and consistent deal flow, offering hands-on deal exposure across both buy- and sell-side M&A. Our work spans a broad range of industries and end-markets and is closely coordinated with Lazard colleagues across global offices, giving team members meaningful cross-border collaboration and visibility, including travel as project needs arise.

Role and Responsibilities

Responsible for the day-to-day support of transaction and marketing efforts and conducting company and industry analysis on new transaction opportunities.

We’ll trust you to:

• Demonstrate strong technical and analytical skills with an ability to build financial models with ease.
• Research, analyze, sensitize, and adapt both internal and client-facing financial and statistical analysis/models.
• Efficiently evaluate qualitative and quantitative data.
• Assist in the preparation and production of presentations and marketing materials for clients and prospective clients, in consultation with other team members.
• Effectively manage your own work, taking responsibility for accuracy and quality-checking finished products regarding content, consistency, and language.
• Assist senior bankers on an ad hoc basis as needed with various reports and analyses.
• Handle execution and process matters flawlessly, assisting in due diligence efforts as appropriate.
• Use your own knowledge and judgment to add information to presentations where appropriate.
• Communicate effectively and appropriately.
• Be a proactive team participant with a natural ability to develop your profile across Lazard groups and regions.
• Independently develop sound and logical views whilst understanding both the big picture and the minutiae.
• Show confidence, professionalism, and accountability at all times.
• Contribute to firm-wide initiatives including recruiting, training, and professional development.

Qualifications and Experience

You’ll need to have:

• Gained a minimum of 1.5 years of M&A experience within an investment banking environment (no prior sector knowledge is necessary).
• A robust understanding of the accounting principles that underlie typical financial analyses used in advisory (particularly valuation).
• Outstanding financial understanding that can be readily translated into modeling used for both marketing and execution purposes.
• Self-motivation, with a demonstrable ability to manage conflicting priorities and requests in a high-pressure environment.
• The ability to take initiative and function independently, balanced with strong team skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with the ability to maintain relationships with colleagues and clients at all levels.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• The ability to deliver requested materials to senior bankers in a timely manner.
• Strong awareness of the regulatory environment.
• The skills to maintain high standards of professional and ethical conduct, adhere to legal and regulatory requirements of the banking environment, and follow Lazard policies and procedures.
• Minimum 2.1 university degree classification (or equivalent if studied outside the UK).
