Advisory Associate, Cyber, Compliance & Assessment - Summer 2027 (Multiple Locations)

Job Summary

The Cyber Security and Compliance Associate will assist with information and data risk advisory services, client projects, and internal initiatives. Working alongside experienced professionals, the Associate will participate in compliance projects, cybersecurity maturity assessments, and other cybersecurity-related activities. The role will also support the implementation of client processes, policies, and controls.

The Associate will interact with client personnel, requiring strong communication skills and a professional presence.

Job Duties

• Participate in engagement projects in consultation with other team members.
• Assist with assessments such as Payment Card Industry (PCI), National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), Center for Internet Security (CIS), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) assessments, including readiness reports, cybersecurity audits as part of the CCPA standards, and other related tasks.
• Draft presentations of BDO work products for clients.
• Identify and prioritize initial key risks and assess their impact and likelihood of occurrence.
• Assist with preparing client reports highlighting work performed, issues identified, and BDO recommendations.
• Coordinate with other BDO practices regarding technical issues and other due diligence project components in conjunction with the engagement lead.
• Travel as necessary.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Education

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, Information Technology, or Computer Science required.

Experience

• Three months of experience in IT compliance, security assessments, management consulting, technology advisory, or technology project management preferred.

Licenses and Certifications

None required.

Software

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or Google Workspace required.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Visio preferred.
• Experience using AI platforms preferred.

Compensation

Individual salaries offered to candidates are determined after consideration of numerous factors, including the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.

• Minnesota: $70,000–$74,000
• NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $83,000–$87,000
• Ohio: $71,000–$75,000
• Washington, DC: $83,000–$87,000
