The Lazard AI and Data Group acts as Lazard’s internal innovation engine, bringing together data scientists, data engineers, AI engineers, and software engineers. The team develops advanced, data-driven solutions that enhance decision-making across Lazard’s Financial Advisory and Asset Management businesses, supporting client engagements and strengthening strategic partnerships.

As an AI Engineer Summer Intern within the AI & Data Team, your primary responsibility will be to design, prototype, test, and deploy AI-driven applications and data products leveraging machine learning, natural language processing, and generative AI. Team members have meaningful agency across the entire product-development cycle, interacting directly with senior investment bankers and portfolio managers.

We believe in leading with technology and are "all-in" on the cloud. Successful candidates must have a strong background in programming, machine learning, and problem-solving.

Internship Details

• Duration: Approximately 10 weeks, from June 7, 2027, to August 13, 2027.
• Compensation: Prorated salary of approximately $135,000 USD for the duration of the internship.
• Location: Must be able to be physically present in NYC for the entire internship duration.

• Ability to start internship on June 7, 2027, and conclude on August 13, 2027.
• Ability to be based in NYC for the duration of the internship.

Skills and Experience

• A Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field.
• Strong programming skills in Python, with experience in object-oriented or functional programming.
• Familiarity with large language model (LLM) frameworks.
• Interest in, and ideally some exposure to, agentic workflows, autonomous AI systems, and MCP (Model Context Protocol) agent development.
• Knowledge of unstructured data processing and NLP techniques (e.g., entity recognition, text classification, sentiment analysis, RAG).
• Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Familiarity with APIs and microservices frameworks.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
• Comfortable working with Git, CI/CD tools, and modern development workflows, including exposure to containerization and orchestration tools.
• A passion for building innovative, high-quality AI applications.
• The ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a team player.
• An interest in the finance industry, specifically the investment banking or asset management divisions.
