Summer Internship Opportunity
This internship program will provide you with the opportunity to apply the economic concepts you are learning in the classroom in a professional services setting. You will also develop your research and data analysis skills while learning to manage and prioritize tasks. You will work alongside internationally recognized experts in financial economics, corporate finance, energy, competition, and regulatory economics.
Research Analyst Intern Role
As a Research Analyst Intern at The Brattle Group, you will be an integral member of project teams, collaborating with senior consultants and experts. Your responsibilities will include:
- Quantitative Models and Solutions: Build models and create innovative, data-based solutions for clients using programming languages and tools such as R, Python, Stata, SAS, Excel, and VBA. This may include data and statistical analysis, econometric analysis, and interactive dashboard development.
- Qualitative Research and Literature Review: Conduct comprehensive research, including market analysis, literature reviews, and document examination, and write memoranda to provide insights and support expert reports.
- Supporting Expert Witnesses: Assist in preparing expert reports and presentations, helping experts communicate complex economic and financial concepts clearly in legal and regulatory contexts.
- Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues at all levels to develop robust and innovative solutions for clients.
Typical Assignments
- Antitrust and Competition: Research markets, evaluate restrictions on competition, and estimate relevant damages.
- Consumer Protection and Product Liability: Identify the effects of misinformation on consumer choice and use statistical and econometric analysis of sales data to determine the value consumers place on particular product features.
- Telecommunications: Conduct analyses related to competition, auctions, and mergers within the telecommunications industry.

The work environment is collegial, with significant ongoing contact between senior and junior staff.
Candidate Qualifications
Ideal candidates will be pursuing or possess:
- An undergraduate degree in a quantitative discipline, such as economics, computer science, data science, or mathematics, with strong academic performance. Successful applicants typically have a GPA of 3.7 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
- Strong teamwork and leadership skills. Project work is conducted almost exclusively in teams, so it is critical that interns work effectively with others.
- Intellectual curiosity and creativity, with a consistent desire to learn and approach problems creatively.
- A high degree of ownership and commitment, including a dedication to delivering high-quality work, taking responsibility for assigned tasks, and providing excellent client service.
- Strong communication skills.

The anticipated base gross salary for this position in New York, NY, is $1,850.00 per week.
