KPMG is currently seeking an Audit Intern to join our Audit and Assurance team.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of a team to conduct financial statement audits, helping to ensure the accuracy and reliability of client financial information for the capital markets while upholding objectivity and independence.
- Contribute to the overall effectiveness of clients' operations while maintaining the highest standards of professional integrity.
- Develop an understanding of client-specific risks by reviewing financial results, external information, current business trends, and client transactions, focusing primarily on Korean clients or non-Korean companies needing strategic assistance in Korea.
- Learn to prepare clear and well-structured audit documentation regarding client processes and technology systems, translating complex findings into clear, actionable insights.
- With appropriate guidance, execute and document testing of client controls and financial statement account balances using appropriate standards and terminology.
- Support the execution of high-quality audits by performing assigned tasks and engaging professionally with client and engagement teams.
- Support data-driven audits by utilizing various technologies and data analysis tools, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Excel, Alteryx, SQL, and Power BI.
Qualifications and Requirements
Academic Requirements
- Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor of Accountancy, Master of Accountancy, or an equivalent program.
- Must be pursuing educational requirements for CPA licensure in the principal place of business (the state where the office is located), with academic credits completed prior to starting as an Audit Associate.
- Must have additional academic credits required to complete degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements upon completion of the internship.
- Completion of at least one college-level accounting course is required at the time of application.
- Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
Skills and Experience
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Korean, with the ability to use both languages in a business environment.
- Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics is preferred; experience with data analysis tools such as Alteryx or Power BI is preferred.
- Knowledge of technical accounting and financial reporting standards, including U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Ability to leverage common business technologies, including MS Office (with an emphasis on Excel) and AI, and quickly learn KPMG Audit tools and applications.
- Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills, demonstrated by the ability to drive strategic outcomes with a professional demeanor and collaborative leadership approach in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication, organizational, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to apply professional judgment and skepticism, manage priorities across multiple tasks, and deliver high-quality work in a professional services capacity.
Logistical Requirements
- Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to reasonably commutable work locations using own transportation.
- Audit and Assurance professionals are expected to work in-person at a KPMG office or client site an average of three days per week; some client sites may require travel and overnight/extended stays (varies by office).

Personal Time Off and holidays are provided based on eligibility.
