Intern Position: Economic and Valuation Services

KPMG is currently seeking an Intern to join our Economic and Valuation Services practice.

Responsibilities

• Analyze competitive industry dynamics and peer company financial conditions; evaluate business plans, adjust financial statements, and build comprehensive financial models, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF) analyses, Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), market multiples, and replacement cost valuation approaches.
• Participate in due diligence activities for pending mergers and acquisitions transactions, public-company purchase price allocations, goodwill impairment measurement, international restructurings, and private-company fairness opinions.
• Research, analyze, and communicate the key qualitative factors and quantitative drivers of companies and industries.
• Analyze data and prepare analytical documentation for financial reporting, tax, and other business purposes using various tools such as MS Excel, MS Access, MS Power BI, and Alteryx.
• Prepare proposals, executive presentations, memos, and narrative valuation reports detailing methodologies, inputs, and assumptions.
• Build technical capabilities in key technologies enabling client service delivery, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Alteryx, and Power BI.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Accounting, Economics, Business, Finance, Mathematics, or a related program.
• Must have sufficient academic credits remaining after the internship to complete the degree and/or satisfy CPA eligibility requirements.
• Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and the ability to learn and navigate technologies, including AI, Alteryx, Power BI, and MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), applying emerging technologies to enhance professional insights.
• Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; must be feedback-oriented and resourceful in delivering high-quality work.
• Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to other designated work locations using personal transportation or public transit.
• Must have the ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, sometimes with short notice.
• Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. KPMG LLP does not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visas for this opportunity.

Preferred Qualifications

• Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above.
• Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics.
• Strong skills in technical knowledge, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility. Must demonstrate the ability to achieve strategic outcomes with a professional demeanor and a collaborative leadership approach in a dynamic environment.

Compensation and Employment Information

KPMG LLP and its affiliates comply with all local/state regulations regarding the display of salary ranges. Any offered salary is determined based on various factors, including applicant skills, job responsibilities, prior experience, education, and market considerations. KPMG offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance, 401(k) plans, and personal well-being support. Personal Time Off and an observed calendar of holidays are provided depending on job classification and tenure.

Salary Range (California): $80,000 - $85,500
