Job Description

The Financial Sponsors Coverage team, based in New York, covers global sponsor clients across numerous vertical investments. The team is both sector and product-agnostic, with the primary objective of continuing to build a diversified business book across many Global Market products and Investment Banking business lines.

The VIE will focus most of their time on supporting senior members of the Financial Sponsors origination team by preparing marketing materials, coordinating origination efforts with different product partners of the bank, executing vanilla financing solutions, and providing support on ongoing portfolio management, as well as KYC and compliance requirements.

Responsibilities include developing knowledge of various sponsor clients, the ability to create detailed coverage memos and credit applications, providing comprehensive business and credit risk analysis of customers and prospects, managing processes independently, and building relationships with other stakeholders within the bank.

Deal Origination Support

  • Support for senior members of the team in origination efforts by preparing briefing memos and marketing materials.
  • Manage pipeline origination to track deal activities from different groups.
  • Run profitability metrics on incoming transactions.

Transaction Execution

  • Take an active role in the execution of financing transactions by preparing credit applications, conducting credit analysis, financial modeling, coordinating legal documentation review, and vetting counterparties.
  • Write internal memos for senior management on clients and transactions.
  • Gain expertise in internal policies and procedures, including credit approval workflow, counterparty rating, compliance/conflict checks, KYC, etc.

The VIE will play a key role in the build-up of the Financial Sponsors Coverage in the Americas. Collaboration with senior bankers, salespersons, and product specialists will provide the candidate with the opportunity to perform a wide variety of assignments. The incumbent will directly contribute to the increase in business in the Americas with key client sectors through the development of M&A-IB deals, corporate banking solutions, and other products.

Candidate Eligibility

This position is only open to candidates who are eligible for the Business France V.I.E program:

  • French or European Union citizens.
  • Between 18 and 28 years old.
  • From a country other than the host country.
  • Graduated.

Required Skills/Qualifications/Experience

  • Master’s degree in Finance or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a commercial/investment bank or financial institution with exposure to corporate finance, debt, capital markets, or M&A is preferred.
  • Interest in Private Equity and Credit markets.
  • Solid finance and credit analysis knowledge.
  • Fluent in English; French is a plus.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Customer-focused; ability to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust, respect, competence, and confidence.
  • Curious, strategic, global, and entrepreneurial mindset.
  • Ability to manipulate quantitative and qualitative data to formulate meaningful business ideas.
  • Advanced skills in Excel and PowerPoint, and data providers (S&P Capital IQ, Merger Market).
  • Ability to manage simultaneous projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong written and spoken communication and presentation skills.
