Role details

HSBC is one of the largest banking and financial services organizations globally, operating in 64 countries and territories. We are dedicated to enabling businesses to thrive and economies to prosper, helping people realize their ambitions.

The Opportunity

Join the FICC Analytics Convergence Quants team to drive convergence across historically fragmented analytics within FICC. This role centers on building and deploying a unified quant library interface and fostering business adoption across FICC. You will also unify product, market, and static data to enable shared, consistent analytics. The work encompasses quant library logic, internal architecture, performance optimization, and telemetry. Success in this role means delivering a robust, scalable shared interface with clear adoption outcomes for front office users.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and deploy a unified quant library interface across FICC.
  • Deliver business-facing projects that adopt the unified interface in front office workflows.
  • Unify product data, market data, and static data to support consistent analytics.
  • Build and harmonize quant library logic for reuse across FICC asset classes.
  • Shape internal quant library architecture to enhance reuse and maintainability.
  • Improve performance and telemetry to ensure production stability and tuning.
  • Create a development environment that supports efficient build, test, and release workflows.
  • Partner with other FICC Quants teams to align standards and achieve convergence outcomes.

What We're Looking For

  • Front office quantitative development experience, including building and integrating models in a front office environment.
  • Knowledge of standard pricing models used in the investment banking industry.
  • Strong C++ development experience, including modern tooling such as Visual Studio 2019 or later.
  • Application of software engineering fundamentals across data structures, algorithms, testing, debugging, and distributed systems.
  • Ability to work effectively across Windows and Linux environments, utilizing strong source control practices like Git.
  • Proficiency with build systems such as CMake, Ninja, and MS Build.
  • Application of quant fundamentals across products, market data, pricing models, and risk measures.
  • Ability to specify, implement, delegate, and verify software development tasks within a delivery backlog.
  • Experience using messaging and integration patterns, such as Protocol Buffers (protobuf), where appropriate.
  • Experience with Python or Java.

Converging FICC Quant Analytics

If you are driven to simplify and scale analytics across FICC, this role provides a clear platform to achieve that. You will build shared interfaces and reusable libraries that ensure consistent model adoption across asset classes. The scope spans architecture, data unification, and performance, meaning your contributions will be visible in both engineering quality and front office outcomes. We welcome your application if this level of impact interests you.
