Robot Wrangler Specialist
About the Role
We are hiring a dedicated and detail-oriented Robot Wrangler Specialist to support lab operations and robotics research. This hands-on role involves daily setup, maintenance, precise data collection, and experimental execution. The ideal candidate will bridge hardware maintenance, software configuration, and research operations to ensure the robotics fleet runs smoothly and produces clean, reliable data.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily robot setups and operations, including monitoring, maintenance, and execution of laboratory experiments.
- Collect, retrieve, complete, and label datasets related to robot operations and performance on assigned tasks.
- Maintain hardware and software configurations for the company’s robots and associated equipment.
- Execute manipulation tasks in gaming simulations and remote-control environments to collect clean datasets.
- Maintain configuration control for robotic hardware and software.
- Troubleshoot, report, and resolve issues and test results related to robotic hardware and software.
- Create and refine company documentation and operating procedures.
- Write code in the relevant programming language and ensure robot setups operate according to applicable company standards.
- Coordinate with and assist researchers, engineers, managers, and other robot wranglers with daily tasks and projects.
Qualifications
- Technical degree, equivalent experience, or a degree in a related field.
- Proven hands-on experience setting up, maintaining, and operating robotic systems, ideally in a research or laboratory environment.
- Strong understanding of configuration management principles for hardware and software systems.
- Experience with data collection, cleaning, and labeling, particularly for machine learning or robotics datasets.
- Familiarity with remote operation and simulation environments, such as ROS, Unity, or Gazebo, is highly desirable.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
- Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to follow precise experimental protocols.
