Role Overview

In this internship, you’ll gain first-hand insight into how an in-house legal team supports internal clients, manages legal risk, and contributes to strategic initiatives—including the responsible use of technology and AI in legal work.

Responsibilities

• Support internal clients by assisting legal professionals with legal risk management and practical, business-focused guidance
• Assist in analysing legal matters across practice areas such as UK financial services regulation, commercial contracts, technology, and corporate governance
• Conduct legal research and support the preparation of legal notes, briefings, and contractual documentation for business stakeholders
• Contribute to regulatory implementation, digital transformation, and cross-functional projects
• Collaborate with stakeholders across the business, including risk, compliance, and other corporate functions

Team

You will work within the Group Legal function in London, providing high-quality legal advice to internal clients across the bank. The team supports strategic, regulatory, and technology-driven initiatives and works closely with business partners to navigate complex UK and international legal and regulatory environments, managing legal risk to enable sustainable business growth.

This internship provides insight into how legal advice is embedded in day-to-day business decisions within a global financial institution.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• Studying towards, or having recently completed, an undergraduate law degree or an equivalent qualification
• On track for, or has achieved, at least a 2:1 degree (or equivalent)
• Hard-working, trustworthy, dedicated, and collaborative
• Strategic thinker with strong communication skills
• Motivated to work in a business with high demands and tight deadlines
• Ability to demonstrate how experimental and responsible use of AI can improve outcomes and efficiency
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a precise, structured, and detail-oriented working style
• Excellent written and spoken English
