Position Overview
The localization team is looking for a motivated, technically curious intern to join for a 6-month internship. You will work with localization, language, and software engineering professionals on two key areas:
- Machine Translation (MT): improving translation quality, evaluation, and engineering workflows.
- Continuous Localization (CL): helping modernize our cloud-based localization platform and automation infrastructure.
You’ll gain hands-on experience solving real-world localization engineering problems involving AI/ML, Python, cloud technologies, automation, and multilingual data.
Responsibilities
Machine Translation & Quality
- Investigate translation quality and workflow issues and help test improvements.
- Evaluate MT quality using automated metrics and multilingual test data.
- Support data analysis, testing, and automation for translation quality.
- Explore applications of NLP, Generative AI, and Large Language Models in localization.
- Collaborate with localization, language, and engineering teams and document findings.
Continuous Localization & Cloud Engineering
- Contribute to the development and testing of cloud-native localization workflows on AWS.
- Develop Python services, automation scripts, and integrations with APIs and GitHub.
- Work with event-driven technologies, containers, and AWS services.
- Support automated testing, monitoring, troubleshooting, and production readiness.
- Help improve the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of localization workflows.
Minimum Qualifications
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, graduating in 2027 or 2028.
- Programming or scripting knowledge, preferably Python.
- Basic understanding of software development, APIs, data structures, and debugging.
- Some exposure to areas such as Machine Learning, NLP, cloud computing, or distributed systems.
- Familiarity with Git or another source-control system.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and an interest in localization, AI, and cloud technologies.
- Internship duration: 11 January - 25 June 2027 (6 months full time).
Preferred Qualifications
- Python, data processing, or automated testing.
- Machine Learning, NLP, Machine Translation, Generative AI, or LLMs.
- AWS, Docker, serverless or event-driven architectures.
- REST APIs, webhooks, GitHub APIs, or CI/CD.
- Multilingual data or languages other than English.
