Financial Analyst

Are you passionate about turning data into meaningful insights that shape business decisions? As a Financial Analyst at Amazon, you will build financial and operational reports, conduct ad-hoc analyses, and help drive recommendations that directly impact how we serve our customers. This role offers an opportunity to grow your analytical skills in a fast-paced environment where curiosity and attention to detail make a real difference.

We are looking for a Financial Analyst to support our high-growth Amazon Advertising business, focused on owned and operated devices—Alexa and Fire Tablet. The role will lead reporting on key business drivers across classic Alexa, AI-powered Alexa+, Conversational Ads, and Fire Tablet. You will drive analytics, automate reporting where possible, dive deep into data, and work closely with stakeholders to track how Amazon Ads performs on our devices. This position can be located in either New York or Seattle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support finance, product teams, and the wider business by building scalable models and analyses on revenue drivers and advertiser performance.
  • Assist with co-authoring and providing data for highly visible business mechanisms.
  • Provide financial insights for periodic business reviews with key stakeholders.
  • Partner with the Finance Manager to provide critical data and strategic insights that drive quarterly and annual financial plans.
  • Work with BIE and Data Science to build for scale by streamlining and automating processes and reports using AI tooling and dashboards.
  • Deliver targeted ad-hoc analyses and financial models, drawing conclusions from data and helping develop actionable recommendations.
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects to automate processes, reduce defects, and improve overall performance; create documentation to support knowledge transfer.
  • Identify and investigate data discrepancies, implement and operate financial controls, and escalate complex issues while proposing improvements to existing processes.

A Day in the Life

You may start your morning reviewing a variance report, investigating what changed and why. Then you could join a working session to refine a financial model or troubleshoot a data discrepancy. If you enjoy diving deep into data to understand risks and opportunities, this role is for you. You will simplify and scale reporting and deliver high-quality insights to stakeholders.

About the Team

This position will directly partner with the Finance Manager and Product and Engineering leaders daily. You will be responsible for overall financial reporting on a weekly and monthly basis for business reviews.

Basic Qualifications

  • 1+ years of finance experience.
  • 1+ years of applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a highly analytical field (e.g., Engineering, Math, Computer Science).
  • 1+ years of experience in corporate finance, including budgeting/planning, forecasting, and reporting.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of participating in continuous improvement projects with measurable results to scale and improve controllership.
  • Experience in TM1, data warehouse, and SQL.
  • Additional experience in corporate finance, including budgeting/planning, forecasting, and reporting.

Compensation & Benefits

The base salary range for this position is 66,300.00–109,200.00 USD annually. Amazon also offers sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. Comprehensive benefits may include health insurance (medical, dental, vision, prescription, Basic Life & AD&D, with the option for Supplemental life plans), EAP, mental health support, a medical advice line, Flexible Spending Accounts, adoption and surrogacy reimbursement coverage, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and parental leave.
