Duties and Responsibilities

• Contribute to one of the core functions of the Property/Casualty industry (e.g., Claims, Underwriting, Audit, IT, Marketing, HR).
• Depending on the department, support business needs and gain an understanding of the industry and the business.

Program Objectives

• Receive hands-on training from seasoned managers and mentors to learn the nuances of key functions and departments within a leading commercial insurance company.
• Develop professionally in a corporate workplace, including programming designed to strengthen presentation, networking, communication, and other non-technical skills.
• Participate in an intensive 10-week training program with other interns to understand different full-time career opportunities at Starr.
• Present a final capstone project capturing key takeaways and reflecting knowledge and skills learned throughout the summer.

Skills and Experience Required

• Risk Management or Insurance major preferred, but not mandatory.
• Relevant coursework preferred, but not mandatory.

For individuals assigned and/or hired to work in New York, Starr Insurance Companies is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $25–$30/hour.
