-
Equities: Manages assets for a wide variety of institutional, high-net-worth, and retail clients. Investment professionals manage equity portfolios ranging from small cap to mega cap across the value-to-growth spectrum, covering all geographies and including specialized portfolios such as thematic, low-volatility, and quantitative strategies.
-
Fixed Income: Manages assets for a broad spectrum of clients, including retail investors, high-net-worth clients, and major institutions. Investment strategies span the risk/return spectrum, including rates & currencies, investment-grade and high-yield credit, emerging markets, securitized debt, and municipal bonds.

The business oversees investment services including Thematic Outcome Oriented Solutions, Alternatives, Total Return, Risk Managed Strategies, Retirement, and Systematic Strategies.
-
Responsible Investing: Sets the strategy for responsible investment across the firm and partners with investment teams in Equities, Fixed Income, Private Alternatives, Multi-Asset and Hedge Funds to integrate ESG criteria into investment processes. The approach encompasses partnership (most notably with Columbia University’s Climate School), education, research, stewardship, and solutions.
What You’ll Do
The Investments Summer Internship Program places interns within one asset class (e.g., Equities, Fixed Income, or Multi-Asset Solutions) while providing exposure across all investment businesses, including Responsible Investing. Interns gain a greater appreciation of the overall investment process and different types of roles, including fundamental and quantitative research, trading, portfolio management, as well as data science and technology innovation.
Specific asset class placement and role will be determined based on a combination of intern interest and skill set, company need, and location-specific opportunities.
Summer interns contribute to and learn from AB’s innovative use of technology, deep research capabilities, global presence, and breadth of investment management expertise. AB’s flat corporate structure allows interns to become deeply integrated into the team and contribute meaningfully to investment decision-making early in their careers.
Examples of previous intern projects include:
- Forecasting the growth of cloud infrastructure, platform, and software spending over the next 10 years (Equities)
- Analyzing business models for companies in the electric vehicle charging sector (Equities)
- Using fundamental analysis to underwrite the credit quality of a business and provide a relative value recommendation to portfolio managers (Fixed Income)
- Building a factor model with Python to predict short-term USD/JPY returns, aiding the Derivatives trading team in investment decision-making (Fixed Income)
- Research efficacy of various financial ratios as trading signals, using statistical techniques and a proprietary simulation engine (Multi-Asset & Hedge Fund Solutions)
- Designing a portfolio construction framework that incorporates market betas, factors, and alphas to build and test strategic asset allocations (Multi-Asset & Hedge Fund Solutions)
- Using AI to transform hard-to-access ESG information from company reports into actionable insights, helping investment teams strengthen portfolio decisions with more robust sustainability data (Responsible Investing)
At the end of the summer, interns will present on their projects and lessons learned to Investments senior management. Successful interns will be invited to join the Investments Rotational Associate Program upon graduation.
