Financial Restructuring

Houlihan Lokey has the largest worldwide financial restructuring practice of any investment banking firm, with offices and experienced professionals located across the globe. Since its inception in 1988, the restructuring group has advised on more than 1,900 restructuring transactions with aggregate debt claims in excess of $4 trillion. The group’s experience helps it understand the dynamics of each restructuring situation and the needs, attitudes, and positions of all parties in interest.

Responsibilities

Restructuring Summer Financial Analysts work with the group, assisting with a variety of transactions, including creditor- and debtor-side restructurings and distressed M&A. The role provides exposure to multiple financial advisory and investment banking products and industries, including:

• Advising companies and stakeholders in out-of-court and in-court restructurings
• Raising debt and equity financings
• Providing distressed M&A advisory services
• Advising in special situations with elements of distressed investing
• Participating in complex negotiations on behalf of the client

Summer Financial Analysts are typically members of deal teams comprising at least one Managing Director, Vice President, Associate, and Financial Analyst.

The following qualifications are required:

• Must be in your penultimate year of study at a highly regarded university, completing final university assessments in Spring or Summer 2028
• Strong academic track record
• Top academic performer and a quick learner capable of performing in an unstructured environment
• A demonstrated interest in restructuring
• Prior investment banking internship experience (M&A or an industry team), leverage finance, or restructuring is desirable but not essential
• Thorough understanding of valuation theory, methodologies, and applications
• Strong quantitative, financial, and analytical skills
• Strong LBO and DCF modeling skills
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
• Exceptional work ethic
