About FIG

ALANTRA FIG (Alantra’s Financial Institutions Group within the Investment Banking division) has more than 100 professionals dedicated to the sector, offering a full suite of independent investment banking services including M&A, structured finance and asset backed securities, ratings and capital advisory, and credit portfolio advisory. The team has a strong local presence across the UK, Spain, Ireland, Portugal, Greece, and Brazil, dedicated to transaction execution, structuring, pricing, modelling, and transaction preparation. The team has advised on over 100 transactions for a total volume of over €60bn in the last two years.

Job Description

As an Intern within Alantra FIG, you will support junior and senior team members with a wide variety of tasks, including supporting transaction execution on the buy- and sell-side and client pitch work. This also includes work associated with maintaining best-practice materials and supporting deal teams in working efficiently and effectively on internal and external facing deliverables.

You will be fully integrated into the team, working and interacting with colleagues across different seniority levels to gain direct transaction experience and an end-to-end view of the life of an Alantra FIG analyst.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Assist in the preparation of pitch presentations for potential clients relating to buy- and sell-side opportunities and other business development activities.
  • Support deal teams in the execution of transactions, including:
    • Project management tasks such as note keeping, preparation of agendas, and monitoring follow-ups.
    • Preparation of deal marketing materials.
    • Data-room management.
    • Undertaking market research and preparing reports.
    • Preparation of other transaction materials such as data tapes and target/portfolio pricing.
    • Researching transactions in the market, helping maintain research databases, and supporting the preparation of client communication.
    • Liaising with members across the entire FIG business and across different seniority levels.
    • Other ad-hoc tasks.

Requirements

  • A strong desire to learn quickly and adapt to new teams, clients, and working environments.
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, supported by an excellent academic record.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • The ability to work effectively in a team, manage multiple priorities, and perform under pressure in a demanding environment.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken); additional languages would be an advantage.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • In your penultimate year as an undergraduate student (i.e., you expect to return to your studies for one year following the internship).
  • Previous internship or work experience in investment banking, private equity, equity research, or a related field is beneficial but not required.
