About TD Securities and the Summer Analyst Program

TD Securities provides capital markets products and services to corporate, government, and institutional clients through Global Transaction Banking (“GTB”), Corporate and Investment Banking (“CIB”), and Global Markets (“GM”). The firm works with clients around the world, focusing selectively on key global financial centers including Toronto, Montreal, Calgary, Vancouver, New York, London, Singapore, and Seoul.

GTB helps corporate and institutional clients manage the financial activities essential to running their businesses, including cash management, trade & working capital, financial institutions, and the corresponding product and risk functions.

As a Summer Analyst, you will gain exposure to how GTB develops, delivers, and manages solutions that help clients manage day-to-day financial operations, make and receive payments, finance working capital, and facilitate international trade.

Program Overview

The Global Transaction Banking Summer Analyst Program is a 16-week internship based in New York. The program provides broad exposure across GTB, including potential rotations or project work across sales, relationship management, product, risk, and strategic execution teams, subject to business needs.

This program is intended for students who are intellectually curious, adaptable, collaborative, and interested in building a foundation across the full transaction banking platform. Successful Summer Analysts may be considered for future full-time Analyst opportunities within GTB.

Summer Analysts gain experience through formal training, mentorship, networking opportunities, senior leader exposure, project work, and collaboration with North American and global GTB teams.

What You Will Learn

As a Summer Analyst, you may gain exposure to several areas of GTB, including:

  • Client coverage and origination: How GTB coverage teams work with corporate and institutional clients to understand treasury, liquidity, payments, trade finance, and working capital needs.
  • Product and innovation: Support teams that develop and enhance transaction banking infrastructure and technology across payments, receivables, liquidity, trade and working capital, digital, data, and analytics.
  • Risk and portfolio management: How GTB evaluates transactions, manages portfolio considerations, supports credit requests, reviews documentation, and partners with risk and control stakeholders.
  • Strategic execution and business management: Support research, data analysis, process improvement, reporting, presentation development, and cross-functional initiatives connecting Origination, Product, Operations, Technology, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and other partners.

How You Will Contribute

As a Summer Analyst, you may:

  • Prepare client-facing and internal presentation materials.
  • Conduct company, industry, market, product, and competitive research.
  • Analyze client needs, transaction flows, product usage, and business opportunities.
  • Support product teams with market research, client feedback, roadmap development, training materials, and commercialization efforts.
  • Assist with transaction documentation, credit requests, portfolio reviews, risk reporting, and internal approval materials.
  • Collaborate with partners across GTB, CIB, GM, Operations, Technology, Legal, Risk, Compliance, and other areas of the bank.
  • Participate in the GTB Summer Analyst group project, culminating in a presentation to senior leaders across GTB.

Areas of Exposure

While specific rotations and assignments depend on business needs, Summer Analysts may gain exposure to areas such as:

  • Corporate Cash Management: Treasury management, liquidity, collections, disbursements, and cash management advisory for corporate clients.
  • Financial Institutions: Payment clearing, settlement services, relationship management, and broader “One TD” coverage for financial institution clients.
  • Trade and Working Capital: Traditional trade finance, letters of credit, guarantees, documentary collections, supply chain finance, receivables finance, and export and agency finance.
  • Transaction Banking Product: Product strategy, development, commercialization, product roadmaps, digital capabilities, data, analytics, and client experience.
  • Client Solutions: Cross-functional execution, business growth initiatives, process improvement, issue resolution, and coordination across internal teams.
  • Deposits and Credit Portfolio Management: Balance sheet optimization, liquidity, capital, funds transfer pricing, regulatory considerations, and portfolio-level business analysis.
  • GTB Risk: Front-line risk oversight, transaction review, credit support, documentation review, reporting, and portfolio risk management.

What Makes This Program Different

Transaction Banking marries technology to client business needs. This program provides a broad view of transaction banking and an understanding of how client needs, product strategy, risk management, and technology come together in a global financial institution.

You will be well suited for this opportunity if you are:

  • Curious about how companies manage cash, payments, liquidity, trade, and working capital.
  • Interested in international commerce and collaborating with teams and clients across global markets.
  • Interested in both client-facing advisory and product-driven innovation.
  • Comfortable learning across different teams and subject areas.
  • Analytical, collaborative, organized, and willing to take ownership.
  • Excited by a role that combines finance, strategy, and technology.
  • Open to building a career across the broader GTB platform rather than only one specific business line.
