Finance Operations Specialist (New York, NY)

FLSA Status: Exempt

Glencore is a natural resource energy trading company. The back office supports the company’s US trading and operations staff.

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform core settlement functionality for the trading business by reviewing and validating costs associated with payables and receivables entered by front office.
  • Ensure payments are executed and received in a timely fashion.
  • Work with internal trading desks to resolve pricing and operational discrepancies.
  • Assist treasury functions with timely cash application.
  • Follow up on outstanding accounts receivable balances and communicate with trading desks regarding payment status.
  • Prepare and reconcile overdue receivable reports for trading desks.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and internal controls.
  • Perform ad-hoc analysis and other job-related duties as assigned.
  • Participate in special projects impacting the Finance Department.

Position Requirements

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 1+ years of experience in accounting, finance, accounts receivable, collections, or a similar role.
  • Problem solving: identify and resolve problems in a timely manner, gather and analyze information effectively, and maintain confidentiality.
  • Consistent ownership of assigned work.
  • Attention to detail and willingness to learn.
  • Communication: strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Judgment: extremely sound judgment in response to sensitive situations or materials; demonstrate loyalty and integrity in all situations.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills and professional demeanor.

Compensation

  • Expected annual salary of $60K–80K, plus medical, retirement, and insurance benefits. May be eligible for a discretionary performance bonus.
