Project Description

The Global Procurement team contributes to Micron’s growth by advancing total-cost effectiveness, supply-chain resilience, predictive capabilities, risk analysis, sustainability, and supplier diversity. The team provides a skills-based learning environment where team members can develop capabilities, explore career pathways, and collaborate across a global organization.

The intern will undertake a structured procurement transformation project involving data analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and automation. The project will provide practical exposure to procurement systems, supply-chain data, inventory analysis, workflow improvement, and Agentic AI, contributing to improved visibility and decision-making within Front-End Materials Procurement Operations.

Objective of the Project

  • Develop an AI-enabled tracking and analytics solution for selected procurement and supply-chain activities.
  • Analyze procurement workflows, data, and inventory indicators to identify risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Apply Agentic AI, data visualization, or robotic process automation to improve information visibility and process efficiency.
  • Develop procurement, analytical, digital, and cross-functional collaboration capabilities through a defined learning project.

Project Scope

  • Procurement systems and analytics: Develop or enhance procurement tools, dashboards, and analytical processes to improve visibility and decision-making.
  • Agentic AI and data insights: Develop an Agentic AI solution to analyze procurement and supply-chain data and identify trends, risks, opportunities, and improvement areas.
  • Process excellence: Review selected workflows with cross-functional stakeholders and design improvements that enhance efficiency, consistency, and transparency.
  • Inventory and supply analysis: Analyze inventory levels, safety stock, material risks, shortages, delivery concerns, and related follow-up information as part of the defined project.

Learning Opportunities

  • Gain practical exposure to materials procurement, supply-chain operations, inventory concepts, and supplier-related risk analysis.
  • Learn to translate business requirements and procurement data into dashboards, analytical insights, and process improvements.

  • An Agentic AI, dashboard, or automation prototype addressing a defined procurement operations challenge.
  • A documented review of the selected workflow, including implemented improvements, evaluation results, risks, and recommendations.
  • A final project report and presentation covering the problem statement, methodology, outcomes, business impact, and scaling opportunities.
  • Submission of project deliverables, final reports, and presentations to department leaders as internship completion elements.

Impact of the Project

  • Improve visibility of procurement, inventory, and supply-chain information.
  • Strengthen data-informed identification of material risks, trends, and improvement opportunities.
  • Reduce inefficient or repetitive steps within the selected procurement workflow.

Skillsets Required

  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and comfortable learning in a global, fast-paced, and collaborative environment.
  • Strong analytical, data interpretation, structured problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, and Microsoft Power BI, with an interest in tools such as UiPath, Tableau, Microsoft Power Automate, or other automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence tools, Agentic AI, Generative AI, AI assistants, data analytics, or AI-enabled workflows.

Course of Interest

The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, Science, Data Analytics, Information Systems, or a related field.

Duration

The ideal candidate should commit to a full-time internship period of five months, from Jan to May 2027.
