About Alvarez & Marsal

Alvarez & Marsal (A&M) is a leading global professional services firm with more than 13,000 entrepreneurial, action-oriented professionals across 90+ offices in over 50 countries. The firm takes a hands-on approach to solving clients’ problems and helping them reach their potential. A&M’s culture celebrates independent thinkers and doers guided by core values of Integrity, Quality, Objectivity, Fun, Personal Reward, and Inclusive Diversity.

The Corporate Finance Team

A&M’s Corporate Finance practice sits at the intersection of strategy and execution. The team advises corporate clients, founder and family-owned businesses, private equity sponsors, and financial institutions across the full deal lifecycle—from buy-side and sell-side M&A advisory to capital raises and strategic alternatives. The practice combines deep sector expertise, a hands-on advisory model, and a focus on getting transactions across the finish line.

What You’ll Do

Financial Modeling & Analytics

  • Build and maintain complex financial models, including LBO, DCF, comparable company, and precedent transaction analyses, serving as the primary owner of all quantitative outputs on engagements.
  • Oversee the accuracy and integrity of internal and external analytics by cross-checking figures and controlling information flow across workstreams.
  • Run structured data collection processes and synthesize large volumes of financial and operational information into clear, actionable insights.

Transaction Execution

  • Coordinate day-to-day execution across active mandates, managing timelines, workstreams, and deliverables to keep transactions on track.
  • Oversee the preparation and quality of origination and execution materials, including confidential information memoranda, management presentations, and pitchbooks.
  • Develop buyer lists and conduct buyer universe analysis to support sell-side and other engagements.
  • Support diligence processes by managing information requests and ensuring seamless communication between client teams and counterparties.

Client & Team Engagement

  • Interact directly with clients and senior team members, contributing to informal presentations and participating in client meetings with growing responsibility.
  • Demonstrate strong situational awareness across assigned workstreams by anticipating needs, identifying next steps proactively, and operating with minimal supervision.
  • Mentor and guide junior Analysts, supporting their development in both deal execution and origination activities.

Business Development

  • Build internal relationships across A&M’s broader platform—including Transaction Advisory, Restructuring, and sector teams—to identify cross-practice collaboration opportunities.
  • Seek exposure to external marketing and business development activities as you grow within the firm.

Who You Are

  • Minimum 1 year of investment banking experience at the Analyst level required; 2 years preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, or Accounting preferred; minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5.
  • FINRA securities licenses (SIE, Series 79, and Series 63) are preferred but not required. Candidates without the licenses will be expected to complete the applicable licensing process following their start date.
  • Expert-level three-statement financial modeling—fast and accurate; the team will rely on your model without detailed review.
  • Demonstrated quantitative, analytical, and modeling skills, including comparable company analysis, precedent transaction analysis, DCF, LBO, and sum-of-the-parts valuation methodologies.
  • Knowledge of capital markets and investment banking products.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Bloomberg.
  • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with strong interpersonal skills in both team and client settings.
  • Strong work ethic, sharp attention to detail, and high level of integrity.

Education, Licensing & Registration Requirements

Successful employment with A&M Securities is subject to receipt by A&M Securities of information satisfactory to A&M Securities in its sole discretion in response to a pre-employment background investigation, including verification of educational qualifications, employment history, valid and active licenses, certifications, and other professional credentials necessary for the role. Specifically, A&M Securities must receive confirmation within six (6) months of the commencement date that the successful candidate has received passing scores on the Series 63, Series 79, and Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) examinations and holds a valid and active Investment Banking Representative registration.
