Job Description
- Support Operations Engineer to monitor plant status via the Central Control Room (CCR), tracking variables for boilers, turbo-generators, and flue gas treatment auxiliaries.
- Assist in safe equipment isolation and normalization using P&ID drawings.
- Support operations involving weighbridges, water/wastewater treatment, reception halls, and bunker management.
- Handle and resolve technical issues related to daily generation and processing units.
- Enforce the PTW system, risk assessments, and Lockout-Tagout (LOTO) system.
- Participate actively in plant safety initiatives, toolbox talks, and workplace health standards.
- Work alongside maintenance teams during boiler and turbo-generator overhauls.
- Contribute to plant improvement, efficiency, and ad-hoc engineering tasks assigned by supervisors.
- Perform routine checks and testing of plant equipment; propose job cards in a proper manner.
- Monitor plant parameters and make adjustments/troubleshoot via DCS or onsite systems to ensure parameters remain within limits (including temperature, pressure, and flue gas emissions).
- Manage boiler water condition and level, including monitoring and controlling water consumption.
- Perform necessary equipment switch-over (e.g., feed water pumps, flue gas treatment compartment, chemical dosing silo, etc.).
- Optimize refuse incineration throughput based on operating conditions.
- Ensure optimization of chemicals and consumables.
- Record and document changes in work procedures accurately according to plant ISO standards and quality management procedures.
- Update plant status by informing immediate superiors in a timely manner of equipment failures or abnormal situations.
- Ensure incidents (if any) are handled properly and documented with minimal disruption to operations.
- Administer the Permit-to-Work (PTW) system and LOTO in line with the identified work inventory, including enforcement of PTW and risk assessment practices.
- Assist the Operations Engineer in managing operational activities for the CCR, weighbridge, water and wastewater treatment plant, overhauls, reception hall, bunker management, and other general plant matters.
- Ensure smooth and efficient operation of turbo-generators and associated common equipment.
- Work with the Maintenance team to carry out boiler and turbo-generator overhauls and any ad-hoc work activities.
- Adopt a safety mindset and actively participate in safety initiatives and events.
- Support improvement and optimization projects.
- Perform any other ad-hoc duties assigned by the supervisor or plant management.
Job Requirements
- At least a Higher NITEC in Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
- Working knowledge of the principles and mechanics of plant equipment and DCS functions is essential.
- A Class 2 Boiler Attendant Certificate is preferred but not mandatory.
- Preferably attended training relating to HAZMAT, First Aid, Incident Management, Work-at-Height, or Confined Space (training will be planned for those who have not been trained).
- Strong safety mindset and can-do attitude.
- Meticulous with good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good team player with high initiative.
- Interest in process or Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant operations; must be able to get accustomed to the WTE environment.
- Committed to 12-hour shift work and willing to provide support on off/rest days when required.
- 2 years contract position.
