Core Development Team

Core Development is a global team of technologists that architect, build, and maintain Jump’s world-class trading platform. We optimize the core trading engine and build custom hardware, leveraging software and hardware engineering, data science, and research to deliver the infrastructure and tools that support trading and business needs.

About the Role

Our Software Engineer (Python) internship is an intensive 10-week experience at Jump Trading’s Singapore office. You will work with a team that helps the business make sense of data, sharpen your Python skills through mentorship from Software Engineers, and research, analyze, and build high-impact solutions and products that connect data to the daily trading environment.

What You’ll Do

• Work with experienced software engineers and receive ongoing feedback and coaching from a dedicated mentor throughout the summer.
• Use your Python programming skills to build high-impact products that help Jump tackle new initiatives and streamline every part of the trade cycle.
• Collect and analyze datasets to identify patterns, gain insights, and discover new creative opportunities and solutions.
• Work on production code and gain experience with the full-cycle process for development, testing, and release.
• Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Skills You’ll Need

• Strong academic foundation with a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field.
• Experience using Python to investigate open-ended scenarios, make sense of data, and improve outcomes.
• Comfort with using the most recent Python standards.
• Comfortable working with the Linux command line.
• Curiosity for trading and computer-related topics, with a rigorous, detail-oriented approach.
• Desire to make an impact in a collaborative, cross-team environment with a positive can-do attitude.
• Ability to operate independently and communicate clearly in a fast-paced environment supporting daily live trading.
• Reliable and predictable availability.

Additional Notes

• Candidates should be interested in working in Singapore for their full-time job after graduation.
• No finance or economics study or work experience required.
• Also helpful, but not required:
  • Past internship or job experience in a software engineering role.
  • Additional experience in C++.
  • Exposure to data analytics tools such as Pandas.
