Area Manager (Operations)
Amazon is seeking customer-focused individuals to lead a team of hourly employees across our Operations network. This is a full-time, entry-level position located within one of Amazon’s fulfillment centers, sort centers, delivery stations, or other operations buildings.
As an Area Manager, you will engage, lead, and develop your team in a warehouse environment. Your main focus will be motivating, mentoring, and managing your team to meet goals. Amazon provides extensive training and development to become an exceptional people leader. As a people manager, you will ensure your team has the tools needed to succeed while maintaining the highest levels of safety, quality, attendance, and performance at work.
Compensation & Benefits
The base pay for this position ranges from $70,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $78,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

Key Job Responsibilities
- Support, mentor, and motivate 50–100 direct report Amazon Associates
- Work independently and operate in an autonomous environment
- Stand and walk during shifts lasting up to 12 hours
- Regularly work shift patterns that include nights, weekends, and/or holidays based on business needs (most sites follow a fixed 4-day work week with 3 days off)
- Oversee truck deliveries, handle and sort packages using pallet jacks, operate PIT equipment (at applicable facilities), and step in as needed
- Work in an environment where noise levels vary
- Lift up to 49 pounds and frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach
- Climb and descend stairs (when applicable)
Basic Qualifications
- 1+ years of employee and performance management experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, or 2+ years of Amazon (blue badge/FTE) experience
- Ability to work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays
- Ability to push and pull wheeled dollies loaded with products up to 100 pounds during shifts
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ years of performance metrics, process improvement, or lean techniques experience
