Responsibilities

Software engineers primarily focus on software design and development. This role covers a broad range of engineering positions, including business software, platform engineering, and quality assurance. Combine the best open source software, databases, cloud solutions, and programming languages to solve problems and deliver accurate, complex, scalable applications that help our business and clients gain new insights.

As a software engineer, you are a change agent who applies technical know-how to transform Goldman Sachs. Join embedded engineering teams that work closely with business partners, collaborating with trading, sales, asset management, banking, finance, and others to build and automate solutions that keep our firm on the cutting edge. Alternatively, join core engineering teams to provide reliable, scalable platforms for data engineering, machine learning, networking, developer tooling, collaboration, and more.

Innovate with UI/UX designers, data scientists, cloud engineers, and more in a collaborative, agile environment where your enthusiasm to tackle new problems and learn will have an immediate impact.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant work experience in Computer Science, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Excellent functional analysis and design skills.
  • Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and designing for performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and apply analysis to make data-driven decisions.
  • Comfortable multi-tasking, managing multiple stakeholders, and working as part of a global team.
  • Entrepreneurial approach and passion for problem solving and product development.
  • 2+ years of software development experience.
  • Cloud experience with Snowflake is a strong asset.
  • AI experience is a strong asset, with Copilot, Claude, etc.

Expert Knowledge

  • Programming in a compiled language such as Java or Scala, or an interpreted language such as Python, with experience in concurrency and memory management.
  • Large data processing development experience, such as Spark, MapReduce, etc.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge or interest in trading technologies in the front office of a trading organization.
  • B.S. or M.S. in Computer Science or a related field.
