About the Role

Responsible for supporting the day-to-day activities of a particular area on either a full-time or part-time basis, with the aim of learning practical knowledge of the business area, the company and the industry.

The Actuarial Department of AIA Hong Kong consists of various functions. As an actuarial intern, you will have a unique 6-month experience to be exposed to different functions/sections during the internship period.

Key Responsibilities

1) Actuarial Department – Product Development

  • Main function of the product team is to develop new products, review existing product performance, and evaluate actual operational experience.
  • Perform data analysis and generate product financials using spreadsheets and/or Prophet models.
  • Check IT systems related to product administration.
  • Prepare data and calculations for experience/claim monitoring.

2) Actuarial Department – Reporting

  • Responsible for shareholder reporting, regulatory reporting, business projections and forecasts, and projects and initiatives.
  • The department is divided into sections for different valuation bases used for internal management and external disclosure.
  • Perform calculations and data extraction for financial reports to assist the regular reporting process.
  • Verify calculations in financial models under different reporting bases.
  • Perform analysis and explain results.
  • Handle ad-hoc projects and other duties as required.

3) Capital Management Department

  • Provide risk-based analyses to support the formulation of business strategies from a capital perspective.
  • Calculate, extract data, and check stress testing and economic capital reporting using Prophet models.
  • Control and check Prophet models to ensure result consistency and quality.

4) Capital Planning & Optimisation

  • Perform various stochastic analyses to support financial strategy development from a capital perspective.
  • Run sensitivity analyses on capital positions under economic scenarios using spreadsheets to identify key risk drivers.
  • Support testing of financial strategies and analyze their implications on the company's capital position.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • University students majoring in Actuarial Science, Risk Management, Mathematics, Statistics, Insurance or Finance with a strong mathematical background.
  • Good analytical and communication skills.
  • Strong command of written and spoken English.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Prophet, VBA, or other programming languages is an advantage.
