Engineer, Automation, Automation & Electrical Systems-EDC

Responsibilities

• Serve as an EDC AES Engineer responsible for ship automation system design and for the Ship Management System (SMS) and its interfaces to platform system equipment, including related control and monitoring logic. This includes basic and detail design such as SMS architecture, generating I/O lists, and reviewing system functional descriptions from internal engineering trades to realize platform system automation, control logics, and monitoring in SMS.
• Integrate third-party equipment/systems with SMS and coordinate room arrangement integration with internal engineering trades.
• Design control console and console panel layout, as well as control room arrangement layout.
• Be responsible for the functional design of safety and surveillance-related systems, including:
  • Propulsion Control System (PCS)
  • Power Management System (PMS)
  • Dynamic Positioning System
  • CCTV System
  • Fire Detection System
• Review vendors’ technical proposals to ensure solutions meet the functional requirements.
• Ensure adherence to contractual technical requirements and Classification requirements for automation design within the project schedule.
• Liaise with clients and other internal engineering trades for project coordination.
• Attend technical reviews and meetings with clients and vendors during project execution to ensure requirements are fulfilled, discuss technical solutions, and resolve technical issues.

Knowledge & Skills

• Knowledge of Marine Electronics and Automation systems.
• Knowledge in computer networking, control instrumentation, and control system design.
• Knowledge of standard communication protocols such as Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus, RS422, RS485, NMEA, CANbus, and J1939.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD for drafting.
• Good interpersonal and problem-solving skills; works well in a team.
• Good time management and ability to meet tight deadlines.

Requirements

• Degree in Electrical, Automation, Mechatronics, or a related engineering field.
• Minimum 1 year of working experience in Automation or the marine/offshore industry.

• 5 days work week
• Working Hours: 7:25 AM to 5:00 PM
