Underwriter – Financial Lines (Commercial Directors and Officers Liability, Commercial and Construction Professional Indemnity, Commercial Crime, Financial Institutions)

Overview

AIG underwriting teams help to find insurance solutions in areas including Financial Lines, Property, Casualty, Specialty Lines, Cyber, Multinational Clients, and High Net Worth individuals. Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business to drive profitable growth of Financial Lines.
• Assess risk desirability through regular contact with brokers, close coordination with AIG subject matter experts, and robust reviews of claims history and company information.
• Maintain strong broker relationships, provide excellent service with a consistent, timely, and proactive underwriting approach, and generate new business by expanding the broker network, attending broker events, and building new market relationships – in line with a sales plan established with your manager.
• Provide accurate monthly management information including submissions, bind rate, average premium, and total premium.
• Support growth and profitability objectives as outlined by the Profit Centre.
• Contribute to planning by identifying growth opportunities, new business segments, and new product opportunities to support growth objectives.
• Adhere to underwriting procedures and compliance protocols.
• Assist with account targeting strategy and product development initiatives.
• Conduct relevant product/process training as required by the Underwriting Manager.
• Participate in ad-hoc special projects or requirements as they arise.
• Help identify business opportunities for other profit centres to support the company’s cross-marketing strategy.
• Liaise with administration staff, legal, claims, finance, and other service centres to ensure awareness of underwriting and business activities support standards.
• Identify opportunities and strategies to support growth in Corporate and Major Account segments and develop appropriate distribution solutions in country environments.
• Assist with multinational development plans to maximise share of available profitable income from key/potential producers.
• Lead the launch of new policy wordings, endorsements, and/or broker-specific programs.
• Ensure timely delivery of reports and compliance tasks to key internal stakeholders as required.
• Keep Underwriting Manager informed of all major underwriting issues.

Qualifications & What You’ll Need

• MAS-recognised insurance qualification.
• Proven experience in Financial Lines underwriting; experience in Cyber underwriting is a plus.
• Risk assessment experience, including new business reinsurance negotiations and developing renewal retention strategies.
• Ability to analyse financial statements.
• Strong communication, networking, and relationship-building skills.
• Good organisational and time-management skills.
• Customer- and sales-oriented behaviours: motivated, tenacious, focused, technically skilled, proactive, and accountable.
