Program Overview

Jefferies’ Investment Banking Summer Analyst Program provides Summer Analysts with the opportunity to gain valuable experience across an array of investment banking products and industries and to develop lasting personal and professional relationships with peers and senior bankers that will serve as the foundation for a successful career. Jefferies’ lean deal team structure provides Summer Analysts with a platform to play an important role, working closely with senior bankers on pitches and live deals. In addition to performing fundamental analysis and research into companies and markets, interns are encouraged to think creatively, offer their input, and add value to the team from day one. As with everyone at Jefferies, Summer Analysts are expected to pursue their projects with excellence, a collaborative spirit, and with the highest levels of integrity. Summer Analysts will focus on real-life on-the-job learning, with colleagues serving as both instructors and mentors. Each Summer Analyst will also have the opportunity to review their professional development and receive detailed feedback on their performance over the course of the 10 weeks at Jefferies. Students in their penultimate year of university with an anticipated graduation date of October 2027 – June 2028 may apply for our Summer Analyst Program.

Summer Analyst Responsibilities

• Perform financial valuation, discounted cash flow and multiples-based analyses
• Build and maintain financial models
• Prepare pitchbooks and live deal materials, such as offering memorandums and prospectuses
• Conduct industry and product research
• Analyze detailed corporate and financial information
• Participate in the execution of financings and M&A transactions

What We Look For in a Candidate

• Ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Opportunity to work on projects in Southeast Asia as well as greater China
• Professionalism and client management skills, together with strong technical, written, and verbal communication abilities
• Fast-paced, challenging, and intellectually stimulating work environment
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, with adaptability to work independently or as part of a team
• Strong academic background; minimum 3.6 GPA or equivalent; in the penultimate year of a three-year degree or the third year of a four-year degree (or equivalent)
• While a background in accounting or finance is helpful, interns from diverse disciplines are hired
• Proficiency in Asian languages is an advantage

Investment Banking – Hong Kong

The Jefferies Hong Kong Investment Banking team focuses on the origination and execution of equity and M&A transactions for Greater China and Asia clients. Our business in Greater China and Asia has a strong track record and deal momentum, enabling us to play an active role in M&A, initial public offerings and equity fundraises, and cross-border financing across sectors in the region. We have led US initial public offerings for Chinese issuers in the biopharmaceutical and biotechnology space and have built a respected China franchise in Healthcare and Technology sectors, supported by our Senior Sponsor Bank roles in high-profile Hong Kong IPOs. We have recently welcomed experienced sector and coverage senior bankers to grow our franchise in Asia. Our Investment Banking team works closely with teams in New York, London, Japan, Singapore, and other regional offices as one global team in cross-border transactions. Leveraging our global resources and network, Jefferies’ Hong Kong platform is well positioned to capitalize on the continued growth of Greater China and Asia economies.
