About Marvell
Marvell’s semiconductor solutions are the essential building blocks of the data infrastructure that connects our world. Across enterprise, cloud and AI, and carrier architectures, our innovative technology is enabling new possibilities.
At Marvell, you can affect the arc of individual lives, lift the trajectory of entire industries, and fuel the transformative potential of tomorrow. For those looking to make their mark on purposeful and enduring innovation, above and beyond fleeting trends, Marvell is a place to thrive, learn, and lead.
Your Team, Your Impact
As a Hardware Design Engineer at Marvell, you’ll be a member of the Central Engineering business group. Central Engineering functions as the central hub, providing Intellectual Property (IP) used by all other divisions, including Data Center, Switching, Networking, Storage, and Security.
You will be part of the Central System Engineering Hardware Design team, designing high-power, high-speed, multi-layer boards for various groups across Marvell. Marvell designs some of the most complex chips and boards in the industry, supporting extremely high-speed applications. You will work at the leading edge of this technology and have the opportunity to contribute to challenging and innovative hardware designs.
What You Can Expect
In this onsite role in Singapore, you will be involved in the complete hardware design process, from schematic capture and component selection to simulation, PCB design, and hardware validation. You will perform Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis to ensure the design meets performance and customer requirements, and work closely with architecture, validation, and other engineering teams to ensure proper system integration.
You will use tools such as Cadence Allegro for PCB design and routing, Ansys Electronics and SPICE for simulation, and equipment such as broadband Vector Network Analyzers (VNA) and protocol analyzers for hardware testing and validation. The designs may involve high-speed interfaces and silicon products such as Ethernet, PCIe, USB, SATA, SD, Flash, and Storage.
You will participate in regular project and technical meetings, design reviews, and brainstorming sessions with team members and mentors. Through hands-on experience, you will develop a strong understanding of the complete hardware development cycle and learn to balance key design considerations such as performance, signal integrity, power, cost, and customer requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and develop high-speed hardware, including schematic capture, component selection, PCB layout, simulation, and validation.
- Perform Signal Integrity and Power Integrity analysis to optimize design performance.
- Work with architecture and validation teams to understand system requirements and testing needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware designs into the overall system.
- Perform circuit, PCB, and electromagnetic simulations using appropriate engineering tools.
- Conduct hardware bring-up, debugging, characterization, and validation using laboratory equipment such as VNA and protocol analyzers.
- Review technical requirements and ensure designs meet customer specifications and performance targets.
- Evaluate design trade-offs involving performance, power, cost, and reliability.
- Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and project meetings.
- Document and communicate design decisions, simulation results, test results, and technical issues to relevant stakeholders.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a focus on schematic design, board or package routing, Signal Integrity (SI) and Power Integrity (PI) analysis, and programmable device design.
- Have completed a school or professional project that involved schematic capture and circuit design. Board design experience is not required. You must be able to clearly explain the project objectives, your role and contributions, and how you identified and resolved any issues.
- Have hands-on laboratory experience debugging issues that were not identified during the design review. You should be able to determine whether an issue is related to the circuit, chip, or board.
- Be comfortable working with different people toward a common team goal. Demonstrate good communication skills by providing regular updates, asking questions when needed, and keeping team members informed.
Additional Compensation and Benefit Elements
With competitive compensation and great benefits, you will enjoy our workstyle within an environment of shared collaboration, transparency, and inclusivity. We’re dedicated to giving our people the tools and resources they need to succeed in doing work that matters, and to grow and develop with us.
