FS&R Summer Analyst Programme

Rothschild & Co’s Global Financing Solutions & Restructuring (“FS&R”) team comprises over 200 bankers across 14 countries, advising on more than $200 billion in capital raises and restructurings annually. With around 350 transactions yearly, our Summer Analysts benefit from exceptional exposure to high-profile, complex deals across all sectors.

FS&R’s significant deal flow stems from our market-leading position at the centre of global financing and capital markets. Our market dominance is demonstrated by:

• Being a retained advisor to many of Europe’s largest and most influential corporates.
• Being Europe’s largest placer of private credit (senior and subordinated), and the only advisor with TLB and high-yield bond deal flow equivalent to top-tier bookrunner banks.
• Consistently ranking #1 in EMEA restructuring by both value and volume of transactions.

We are primarily an origination business, consistently attracting new clients. Furthermore, we operate as a fully integrated part of R&Co’s Global Advisory practice, collaborating closely with the M&A and Global Markets Solutions teams to deliver seamless deal execution.

Client Exposure

The FS&R team serves a diverse client base across multiple industries, including:

• Corporates: Wimbledon, Thames Water, Porsche, Burberry, Iceland, Flutter, Colosseum Dental, Dishoom, MasMovil Orange, Marshall, Experian, John Lewis, etc.
• Private Equity Sponsors: Ares, Apollo, Blackstone, Bridgepoint, Carlyle, CVC, EQT, Exponent, GSAM, Inflexion, KKR, Montagu, Providence, Searchlight, SVP, Waterland, etc.

Core FS&R Teams

FS&R is comprised of four core teams:

• Investment Grade: Advising large corporates (e.g., predominantly FTSE 100 / 250 businesses) that are (or near) investment grade, on loan / bond / USPP transactions, M&A financings, and optimizing their debt structures.
• Leveraged Finance: Advising Private Equity-owned or highly-leveraged corporates, often financing LBOs, M&A, or complex refinancings.
• Restructuring: Advising predominantly companies, hedge funds, and special situation funds involved in distressed situations, often helping stakeholders navigate and negotiate complex transactions.
• Hedging and Derivatives: Advising corporates, financial sponsors, and investors on using derivative instruments to manage interest rate, currency, inflation, and commodity exposures, supporting clients in structuring, optimizing, and executing market risk management strategies.

Programme Details

Rothschild & Co’s FS&R practice is the largest financing advisory team globally, with our London office serving as the central global hub. We have advised on over 3,250 FS&R assignments since 2010, totalling over $2.5 trillion of debt, reflecting deep expertise across the full range of debt products. Our scale provides clients with unrivalled market intelligence, with over 1,000 financing proposals received annually.

The Summer Analyst Programme

This programme offers hands-on experience across the full spectrum of public and private debt, as well as across strategic and complex financings such as refinancings, acquisitions, LBOs, IPO financings, dividend recapitalizations, distressed financings, and restructurings. You will act on behalf of companies, senior and junior creditors (including institutional investors, distressed debt hedge funds, banks, and CLOs), or private equity sponsors.

Training and Development

The programme begins with an intensive classroom training component covering technical skills (accounting, corporate finance fundamentals, and modelling), alongside internally led presentations and soft skills training. After the training, you will join the team for the remainder of the internship, benefiting from networking events and learning sessions throughout the summer. You will be given meaningful responsibility immediately, allowing you to fully experience day-to-day life at Rothschild & Co.

The FS&R business operates in small, flat-structured teams, ensuring Summer Analysts gain tremendous exposure to senior members of their teams. Successful interns may be considered for a permanent role on our Graduate Programme upon university graduation.

Qualifications and Competencies

We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:

• On track for a minimum of a 2:1 or equivalent in their university degree.
• Genuine interest in corporate finance and debt markets with strong commercial awareness.
• Strong analytical and numerical skills.
• Good computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Diligent and committed to excellence.
• Attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks.
• Ambitious, driven, and capable of delivering results under tight deadlines.
