Location: Sheffield / London / Hybrid Working (Expectation that you will attend an office 2 days per week)

Contract: Permanent

Hours: Full time, 37.5 hours per week, with flexible days and/or hours (Monday-Friday)

Salary: Up to £49,875 (Sheffield) / £60,375 (London) depending on experience

The Role

As a Cloud DevOps Engineer at the British Business Bank, you will help shape reliable, secure, and cost-effective technology services supporting the organisation and its purpose. This is a hands-on engineering role focused on modern DevOps practices across the full lifecycle of infrastructure management.

Responsibilities

• Work within Platform Engineering to help manage the day-to-day operation and improve the hybrid technology estate, with a particular focus on Microsoft Azure.
• Oversee operations across SaaS, IaaS, and PaaS services, maintaining Azure networking, compute, storage, and platform capabilities.
• Support the on-premises Windows and Linux Server estate, virtualisation platforms, and maintain the wider hybrid operating model.
• Create practical, scalable solutions using Infrastructure as Code, Terraform, and automation scripting.
• Maintain CI/CD pipelines utilizing Azure DevOps and GitHub Actions.
• Design and test backup and disaster recovery arrangements.
• Maintain monitoring and observability tools, and respond thoughtfully to incidents.
• Collaborate with engineering, security, and operations colleagues to identify root causes, improve services, and embed DevSecOps practices.

What We Are Looking For

You will bring strong Azure engineering experience across infrastructure, platform services, identity, and security, alongside extensive knowledge of Terraform, CI/CD, cloud governance, FinOps, and the Azure Well-Architected Framework. Experience with cloud migration, modernisation, and regulated environments would also be valuable. Relevant professional certifications or demonstrable equivalent experience will help you succeed in this role.
