Summer College Internship Program

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week paid experience designed for undergraduate and graduate students. It provides opportunities for development workshops, professional networking, and hands-on participation in meaningful company projects, all while receiving mentorship from respective managers throughout the summer.

Interns can participate in development workshops focused on key business concepts. Interns may work in various skills-based tracks, including Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other technical or non-technical degree programs.

Internship Details

• This is a paid 10-week summer internship, running from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week).
• Interns may be placed in either a technical or non-technical area.
• Development workshops are provided to aid the transition from academic life to the corporate environment.
• Housing is not provided as part of the program.

Essential Accountabilities

Specific duties will vary based on assignment, with divisional callouts provided below. Interns joining the mobile app development team will participate in agile ceremonies and experience the full software development lifecycle, including production delivery in an enterprise environment.

• Work alongside a mentor to support key strategic projects.
• Complete assignments based on business needs, departmental priorities, and individual qualifications.
• Perform a mix of technical and non-technical tasks covering a broad range of business-related projects.
• Create and deliver presentations upon completion of the internship.
• Consistently demonstrate high standards of integrity by upholding the company's mission and values, adhering to the Corporate Code of Conduct, and embodying the Lifetime Way values and beliefs.
• Maintain strict confidentiality and protection of member privacy in accordance with company policies.
• Consistent and reliable attendance is required.
• Perform other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

Desired or required qualifications include:

• Education: A High School diploma along with proof of continuous enrollment in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program.
• Majors: Desired majors include Computing Sciences & Information Technology (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT Networking, Cybersecurity, or similar programs).
• Academic Standing: Must maintain good academic standing.
• Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all company levels.
• Work Habits: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining strong attention to detail and delivering high-quality work.
• Collaboration: Ability to work well in a team and establish positive working relationships with peers.
• Competencies: Demonstrates strong organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and prioritization skills.
• Attitude: Exhibits a proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
• Motivation: Self-motivated, able to work independently, and capable of participating effectively in intra- and inter-departmental teams as needed.
• Technical Proficiency: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and using a desktop computer in a professional environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work while sitting and/or standing at a workstation, using a computer, keyboard, mouse, and/or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
• Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for necessary meetings and/or training courses.

Compensation and EEO

Compensation Range

Level I: Minimum $18.00 - Maximum $20.00

The stated salary range reflects the minimum and maximum for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on factors including budget availability, prior experience, knowledge, skill, and education as they relate to the position’s minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted range is one component of the total rewards package, which may also include group health/dental insurance, retirement plans, wellness programs, paid time off, and paid holidays.
