Software Engineering builds the brains of Waymo's fully autonomous driving technology. Our software allows the Waymo Driver to perceive the world, make the right decision for every situation, and deliver people safely. We solve complex technical challenges in areas like robotics, perception, decision-making, and deep learning, while collaborating with hardware and systems engineers. We are looking for curious and passionate software engineers or researchers interested in Level 4 autonomous driving.

Internship Responsibilities

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Contribute to existing projects by maintaining millions of multi-modal examples and PiBs of feature data.
  • Implement new systems to improve existing workflows.
  • Work with users and agents to identify potential use cases and flows for improvement.

Required Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Python or C++ coding.
  • Experience with Distributed Systems.
  • Familiarity with ML training and inference lifecycles.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with feature extraction, feature representations, and distributed storage.
  • Experience with deep learning frameworks, such as TensorFlow or Jax.
  • Experience with autonomous driving and/or robotics.

Compensation Information

The expected annual pay for this position is listed below. Interns are also eligible to participate in the Company’s generous benefits programs, subject to eligibility requirements.

  • Masters Pay: £65,000 GBP
  • PhD Pay: £80,000 GBP
