We’ve been safeguarding people’s financial futures since 1836. We strive to build a better society, improve the lives of our customers and create value for shareholders.

We are one of the world’s largest asset managers and provide powerful asset origination capabilities. Together, these underpin our retirement and protection solutions. We are an international player in pension risk transfer, UK and US life insurance, and UK workplace pensions and retirement income.

Who We Are

Our Retail business supports customers throughout their lives, helping them save, plan, protect and enjoy retirement.

We’re a leading provider of retirement and protection solutions. We aim to support our approximately 12.8 million policyholders and workplace members throughout their lifelong financial journeys.

We focus on helping customers achieve better long-term outcomes. We either talk with them directly or work with intermediaries and employers to meet their needs. We use the latest technology to connect with them quickly, efficiently and, wherever possible, in highly personalised ways.

Job Description

We’re looking for a Support Engineer to help keep our data services running smoothly. You’ll join a collaborative support team responsible for our Snowflake data warehouse, investigating pipeline issues, responding to internal queries and helping colleagues access the accurate data they need.

This is an opportunity to work with Snowflake, DBT, SQL and Azure technology in a varied environment where your troubleshooting and communication skills will be equally valued. We welcome candidates from different backgrounds who can demonstrate the relevant skills, even if they do not meet every desirable requirement.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Monitor scheduled ETL jobs and data ingestion pipelines.
  • Confirm that data has loaded successfully into Snowflake.
  • Investigate pipeline failures and coordinate timely resolutions.
  • Respond to incidents and service requests from internal colleagues.
  • Troubleshoot missing, incomplete or inconsistent data.
  • Support technical and non-technical users with Snowflake queries.
  • Communicate progress and solutions in clear, accessible language.
  • Prioritise issues effectively within a fast-paced support environment.

Who We’re Looking For

  • Practical experience working with Snowflake.
  • Good working knowledge of DBT.
  • Strong SQL skills.
  • Previous experience in a support or service desk environment.
  • Effective troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills.
  • An approachable communication style and the ability to explain technical subjects clearly.
  • The ability to remain organised and make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Experience with Azure Data Factory or the wider Azure ecosystem would be beneficial.

Benefits

Whatever your role, we reward performance and behaviour with a package that looks after the things that are important to you. Benefits include:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes.
  • Generous pension contribution.
  • Life assurance.
  • Healthcare plan for permanent employees.
  • At least 25 days’ holiday, plus public holidays, increasing to 26 days after two years’ service. There is also the option to buy and sell holiday.
  • Competitive family leave.
  • Participation in our electric car scheme, which offers permanent employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax-efficient salary sacrifice.
  • Discounts on our own products and at a range of high street stores and online retailers.
  • Net-zero carbon workplaces by 2030 through investment in sustainable, modern offices across the UK, designed to bring people together and enhance the in-person experience.

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it’s possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture, with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views and experiences. You’ll be guided by leaders with integrity who care about your future and wellbeing, and empowered through initiatives that support people to develop their careers and excel.

We care passionately about outcomes rather than attendance and are open to discussing flexible working options, including part-time work and job shares. Although some roles have limited flexibility due to customer demand, we accommodate requests whenever possible.

It doesn’t matter if you don’t meet every single criterion in this advert. Instead, think about what you excel at and what else you can bring in terms of strengths, potential and connection to our purpose.
