Job Description

ALM Analyst

We are looking for an ALM Analyst to support daily and ad hoc ALM requests, as well as the regular weekly information used for asset and liability decisions across Institutional Retirement Finance.

This is a hands-on analytical role for someone who enjoys dependable delivery, can identify when numbers do not look right and wants to improve how reporting is produced. You do not need to be an actuary. We welcome candidates from finance, investments, insurance, pensions, operations and other data-led environments.

Responsibilities

  • Run the regular weekly ALM management information process and respond accurately to daily and ad hoc ALM requests.
  • Check outputs for reasonableness and escalate unusual or unexpected results.
  • Prepare concise analysis and commentary on key movements.
  • Support what-if analysis for trades, new assets, new pension risk transfer schemes and reinsurance activity.
  • Maintain reporting controls, methodology and process documentation.
  • Troubleshoot data, model and process issues with senior support.
  • Contribute to automation and technology-enabled reporting improvements.
  • Communicate delivery status, risks and issues to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience delivering recurring analytical, finance or reporting outputs to firm deadlines.
  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills.
  • Evidence of checking results for reasonableness and escalating issues.
  • A practical approach to troubleshooting and solving process problems.
  • Comfort working with code, models or automated workflows.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work with colleagues across different specialist teams.
  • Attention to detail, ownership and curiosity.
  • An interest in ALM, investments, risk, insurance or pensions.

Benefits

We reward performance and behaviour with a package designed to support the things that are important to you. Benefits include:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual performance-related bonus plan and valuable share schemes.
  • Generous pension contribution.
  • Life assurance.
  • Healthcare Plan for permanent employees.
  • At least 25 days’ holiday, plus public holidays, increasing to 26 days after two years’ service, with the option to buy and sell holiday.
  • Competitive family leave.
  • Participation in our electric car scheme, which offers permanent employees the option to hire a brand-new electric car through tax-efficient salary sacrifice.
  • Discounts on our products and at a range of high street stores and online retailers.
  • Sustainable, modern offices across the UK, as part of our commitment to creating net-zero carbon workplaces by 2030.

Additional Information

At L&G, we believe it is possible to generate positive returns today while helping to build a better future for all.

If you join us, you’ll be part of a welcoming, inclusive culture with opportunities to collaborate with people of diverse backgrounds, views and experiences.
