Fixed Income Summer Internship 2027

Title: Fixed Income Summer Intern
Department: Fixed Income
Location: London, EC4M 5AB
Duration: 10 Weeks

Who we are

Do you feel passionate about becoming an investor and making a real difference to our clients’ futures? Enjoy working as part of a team and taking ownership of your own work?

We’ve been helping clients plan and invest for their futures for over 50 years. From more than 25 locations around the world, we provide investment services and retirement expertise to everyone from central banks to private individuals.

We’re known for acting with integrity and thinking for the long-term. Across our organisation, we foster a welcoming, caring and inclusive culture where people feel respected, trusted and able to be themselves.

Our Summer Internship Programme offers you access to information, experts, and industry leaders. Over your ten weeks with us, you will learn how our team of analysts formulates investment theses to advise portfolio managers.

What you’ll be doing

We don’t expect you to come straight in and know everything about what we do.

As an intern, and whatever you’re studying, we’ll help make sure you get the most out of your time with us. Fidelity is a place to learn, innovate and grow, with expert colleagues around the world to learn from and share ideas with.

Our Fixed Income team manages money for investors around the world. Their expertise ranges from trading and portfolio management to credit and quantitative research. Whenever an investment decision relating to credit needs to be made, this is the team that people come to. This internship will teach you how we do it.

You will gain experience across our credit research, investment directing and trading departments, working on projects that introduce you to the basics of preparing financial analysis and investment reports.

  • Attend portfolio strategy meetings and learn directly from senior managers.
  • Develop your knowledge of financial modelling, research, risk exposure and the commercial aspects of fixed income products.
  • Work on live projects, attend meetings and make your own recommendations over the course of the 10-week programme.
  • Complete one or more projects and present your findings to a panel of senior colleagues.

We will provide training on financial modelling, research, risk exposure and the commercial aspects of our Fixed Income products. If you show promise and improvement over the course of the summer, you could be offered a place on our graduate programme.

The difference you’ll make

  • Contribute to positive, meaningful work that makes a difference for our clients.
  • Support clients in investing and planning for the futures they want.
  • Provide valuable support to your team.

How you’ll be supported

  • Start with a welcome and orientation, meeting fellow interns and learning about our work.
  • Learn every day through real projects and support from experts around you.
  • Be supported by an assigned buddy and the wider investment team.
  • Attend a company-wide Fidelity Induction in your first week and specific technical training in your second week.
  • Take part in bite-size learning sessions throughout your internship.
  • Join weekly virtual drop-in sessions with the Early Careers team to ask questions and get support.

What we look for

It’s who you are that matters here, rather than what you studied. We welcome applications from all degree disciplines.

You will need to be in the penultimate year of your degree, graduating in 2028, and available to complete 10 weeks of full-time work this coming summer.

  • Thirst for knowledge: Intellectually curious, with the ability to collect and analyse information and use it to make judgements about the prospects of industries.
  • Analytical skills: Able to undertake complex research, interpret data, evaluate differing opinions, and form insights to support wise investment decisions for clients.
  • Articulate & persuasive: Confident and tenacious in communicating your judgements on whether bonds in a company should be bought or sold, and justifying your thinking (including when information is imperfect).
  • English language skills: As an international organisation, you will need to be able to speak English.

We’re an inclusive organisation and encourage applications from a wide mix of talent, whatever your age, gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity, social background and more.
