Program Description
The US Graduate Leadership Intern Program is a 10-week internship that prepares you for the full-time 2-year direct to impact development program. The internship places you at the center of real-world transformational challenges aimed at bettering the lives of the clients, colleagues, and communities TD serves.
This role provides specialized analytics, insights, research and/or execution on projects and special initiatives. It demonstrates and develops day-to-day leadership through meaningful contributions to overall strategy within the functional area. The role interacts with partners and clients as required.
After successful completion of the program, colleagues will be supported into their next role at TD.
Depth & Scope
- Solves complex problems requiring analysis of multiple variables, including consultation with multiple stakeholders.
- Leads projects of moderately to complex risk and resource requirements; may lead end-to-end processes or functional programs.
- Builds stakeholder alignment in leading projects and activities; may provide process and subject matter advice at senior levels.
- Integrates the broader organizational context into advice and solutions within own area.
- Understands the industry, competition, and factors that differentiate the organization.
- Applies best practices to implement process, product, or service improvements.
- Acts as a subject matter expert within their area of specialty or a resource for others.
- Contributes to setting standards within area of expertise.
- Uses advanced methods to contribute to new solutions and recommends standards against which others will operate.
- Impacts a range of functional programs and operations across own and related teams.
- Interprets guidelines, standards, policies, and results of analysis to inform decision-making at senior levels.
- Works independently as the senior technical lead and guides others within area of expertise.
Education & Experience
- Pursuing a graduate degree in a related field.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Demonstrated leadership experience, a history of delivering strong results, and high aspirations and motivation for career progression to senior leadership roles.
Customer Accountabilities
- Completes business objectives set together with leadership as outlined at the start of the program.
- Develops detailed, accurate, and timely research and reporting supported by insightful commentary.
- Conducts internal and external research projects; supports the development and delivery of presentations and communications to management or broader audiences.
- Conducts meaningful analysis at the functional or broader organizational level, using results to draw conclusions, make recommendations, and assess the effectiveness of programs, policies, and practices.
- Identifies and implements process improvements to automate, streamline, and increase the quality of analysis and decisions.
- Represents the business on cross-functional, cross-product working groups, projects, and forums.
- Works with key business partners on strategic initiatives.
- Acts as a liaison between internal stakeholders and external advisors, where appropriate.
- Manages and prioritizes multiple projects with discretion and confidentiality.
- Advises and presents to senior management and influences decisions.
- Invests in personal development and growth.
- May be customer/client facing, and may be required to provide solutions for escalated inquiries or concerns.

- Adheres to organizational frameworks or methodologies that relate to activities for the business area.
- Ensures respective programs, policies, and practices are well managed, meet business needs and priorities, and comply with internal and external requirements.
- Consistently exercises discretion in managing correspondence, information, and all matters of confidentiality; escalates issues where appropriate.
- Ensures business operations comply with applicable internal and external requirements (e.g., financial controls, segregation of duties, transaction approvals, and physical control of assets).
- Protects the interests of the organization by identifying and managing risks, and escalating non-standard, high-risk activities as necessary.
- Participates in cross-functional and enterprise initiatives as a subject matter expert to help identify risk and provide guidance for complex situations.
- Monitors service and productivity, assesses efficiency levels within own function, and implements continuous process and performance improvements.
- Leads, facilitates, and/or implements actions and remediation plans to address performance, risk, and governance issues.
- Actively manages relationships within and across various business lines and corporate/control functions to ensure alignment with organizational and/or regulatory requirements.
- Keeps abreast of emerging issues and trends, and assesses potential impacts of an evolving regulatory climate.
- Maintains a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes aligned with risk appetite.

Preferred Qualifications
- Current MBA candidate with approximately five or more years of professional experience in product management, strategy, consulting, finance, technology, marketing, analytics, or a related field.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with experience using data to develop recommendations and influence decision-making.
- Demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performing team culture; serves as a role model and actively works to improve the colleague experience.
- Demonstrated interest in digital transformation, AI, automation, advanced analytics, and applying emerging technologies to solve complex business problems.
- Proven ability to lead through collaboration and work effectively across cross-functional teams in fast-paced, matrixed environments.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information for executive and technical audiences.
- Customer-centric mindset with a passion for building innovative products and experiences that create value for both clients and the business.
