Location: Positions will be located in PIMCO’s Newport Beach, CA Headquarters, Austin, Texas, or New York, NY.
Client Management – Account Manager Internship
PIMCO’s client management team includes client-facing relationship management and sales professionals (“Account Managers”) who contribute to the firm’s success through client relationship management and business development. Account Managers represent PIMCO to clients and prospective clients, delivering investment solutions that leverage PIMCO’s position as a premier fixed income investment manager.
Account Managers are investment professionals with responsibilities including:
- Build and maintain relationships across client organizations
- Educate clients about a broad set of investment strategies
- Develop a deep understanding of clients’ investment objectives, risk tolerance, organizational structure, and industry trends to present tailored investment solutions
- Collaborate with other PIMCO investment professionals, including Product Strategists and Portfolio Managers, regarding PIMCO product offerings and capabilities
- Communicate the benefits and features of PIMCO investment solutions in the context of clients’ investment objectives
- Provide information about performance attribution, market performance, and macroeconomic conditions, and outline the firm’s current economic outlook and portfolio strategy
- Identify new business opportunities within existing and prospective clients; develop and execute strategies to grow PIMCO’s assets under management (AUM) and improve firm profitability
Account Managers may service a wide range of client types, including endowments, investment consultants, foundations, pension funds, broker-dealer firms, and government entities.
The Account Manager Internship offers opportunities across both PIMCO’s Client Management and Global Wealth Management business groups. Interns will be aligned to one of these teams and gain hands-on experience supporting client relationships and strategic initiatives within their respective group.
Career Development, Training and Mentoring
Every intern begins their summer with a formal week of training. The PIMCO Fundamentals training program provides the skills, knowledge, and relationships to succeed. Throughout the summer, in addition to senior networking initiatives and a high-business-impact project, interns collaborate with the full PIMCO team on client-related work. Interns are also paired with a seasoned professional for guidance and mentorship.
Desired Candidates Should Possess the Following Characteristics
- Ability to articulate ideas, strategies, and views clearly verbally, in writing, and during presentations
- Personable and credible; ability to influence and develop client relationships into strategic partnerships
- Passion for financial markets, macroeconomics, and investment strategy
- Strong analytical abilities; ability to blend quantitative and qualitative analysis
- Ability to work effectively with other teams and leverage expertise to benefit clients
- Ability to develop an understanding of PIMCO’s clientele and investment strategies
- Ability to own a work assignment from ideation through implementation
- Highly organized, self-sufficient, and flexible
- Demonstrated curiosity and experience using new and emerging technologies and AI tools in work or school projects to solve problems and drive better outcomes
Eligibility
You’re eligible to apply if you:
- Are pursuing an MBA degree with an emphasis in Finance and Economics or a related, quantitative/analytical field from an accredited leading business school or university, or an equivalent Advanced Degree as it relates to the position
- Can begin full-time employment from a PIMCO office between January 2028 and August 2028
- Are enrolled at a university during the Fall 2027 semester (August 2027 – December 2027)
- Are business proficient in English
While eligibility requirements are not flexible, PIMCO encourages candidates to apply even if they do not possess 100% of the desired skills outlined above.
The PIMCO Internship Experience
- The internship is a 10-week program running from early June to mid-August, with the expectation that you will be available for the full duration
- During Week 1, you will participate in PIMCO Fundamentals Training
- Alongside colleagues, you will participate in PIMCO’s Global Month of Volunteering to heighten the impact of employees’ worldwide volunteer efforts
- Join cross-divisional education, networking, and social events
- Your supervisor, peer mentor, senior leaders, and team will provide guidance and mentorship throughout the summer
- Gain hands-on experience with AI-powered tools from day one
- Receive feedback at mid- and end-of-summer as part of a formal review process

Interview Process
- After application submission, PIMCO will conduct an initial resume review
- If selected to move forward, you will participate in first-round interviews focused on your interests and skills
- Following first-round interviews, you will meet in final-round interviews conducted live via video conference; interviews typically cover behavioral and technical concepts
Compensation
Salary: $180,000.00
