Choose Power Transmission

The Transmission team works across Europe to ensure that generation and storage projects benefit from optimal grid connections. This role provides working knowledge of the grid connection procedure, the regulatory environment surrounding it, and the evaluation of commercial and operational risks.

You will contribute to the development of power flow and congestion models, support critical stakeholder meetings, review UK transmission policy changes, help identify optimal points of connection for current and future renewable generation projects, and assist with commercial risk assessments related to grid policies and constraints.

Job Requirements and Experience

We are seeking students in the penultimate year of an electrical, power, or renewable energy engineering degree (or similar). If your studies include energy policy or economics, that is an added bonus. You are ideally on course to achieve a 2:1 or higher. What you must have:

• Excellent communication skills with fluent English.
• IT proficiency, including the ability to use AI-enabled productivity tools.
• Organisational skills to manage workload and meet tight deadlines.
• A collaborative, curious approach, with the ability to challenge yourself to find new solutions.
• Motivation to take on new challenges, independently or in a team.
• Knowledge of Python and ideally previous use of power system software such as Powerworld.
• Commercial aptitude and entrepreneurial skills.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to learn quickly.
• Enthusiasm and drive to develop your skillset and seek out development opportunities within a supportive team.

A current placement student will be allocated as a Buddy to new joiners to enhance onboarding and ensure seamless support from your start date.
